Formax Introduces the ColorMax8 Digital Printer

Dover, NH (Nov. 13, 2018) — Formax introduces the ColorMax8 Digital Color Printer, a powerful new addition to the Formax Digital Printing line, which includes the ColorMax7, T4, T5, T6 and ColorMaxLP. If you think it only prints envelopes, we have big news for you.

The ColorMax8 high-speed inkjet printer has been designed to bring a whole new dimension to color printing for mailpieces and packaging. With a wider, straighter feed path and 3/8” throat, it’s capable of printing padded envelopes, corrugated cardboard, folded cartons, pharmaceutical packaging, and more. The top-loading feed hopper handles up to 575 #10 envelopes, and media up to 10.5×17”.

The 7” full-color touchscreen gives operators complete control over the printing process, with an intuitive interface, image preview, and the ability to store up to 60 GB of print jobs for quick and easy processing.

The ColorMax8 is powered by revolutionary MemjetTM technology, featuring a print head with 70,400 inkjet nozzles and no moving parts. This offers higher speeds, more precise printing using less ink, less noise and lower maintenance costs than standard print heads. The ColorMax8 uses the same print head and ink tanks as the ColorMax7, with the new benefit of front access for replacing ink tanks.

Operators can print a variety of media including 10×13” flats, packaging materials up to 3/8” thick, windowed envelopes, and more, with full-bleed capability on media up to 8.77” wide. Typical applications include letterhead, #10 envelopes, invitations and greeting cards, corrugated boxes, padded envelopes, coin envelopes, pharmaceutical pill packs, and glossy postcards.

The ColorMax8 produces crisp, full-color CMYK images up to 1600×1600 dpi, at speeds of up to 8,000 #10 envelopes per hour. With its thermal inkjet technology, the ColorMax8 doesn’t require heat or contact with the page to create an image, so it can be used safely with pre-printed and windowed envelopes without damaging the window or marring the original image.

The ColorMax8 features all-metal construction in a compact footprint, and is made in the USA. In addition, 5 high-capacity 250ml ink tanks, a newly designed ink transport and fully-automated print head cleaning ensure optimum print quality at an economical price. Options include a 3-foot conveyor stacker, cmColor RIP software for color matching and variable data management, and a 1,000-watt infrared dryer.
