Xerox, Fujifilm Reach Manufacturing Accord

Xerox has extended its manufacturing deal with Fujifilm to source equipment and supplies. While details are scant, Xerox will reportedly spend $1.17 billion on products manufactured by Fujifilm this year.

The news was shared by Xerox with its channel partners via email. Media and analysts at last week’s PRINTING United Expo in Atlanta were also made aware of the accord.

Fujifilm Business Innovation, Xerox’s top manufacturing partner, produces the company’s Versant and Iridesse models, among others. The agreement covers five years.

“Fujifilm Business Innovation continues to be one of our strategic suppliers, and we have recently renewed our multi-year contract with them,” a Xerox spokesperson told ENX Magazine. “This agreement secures our ongoing access to the latest advancements in print engine technology and related supplies, reinforcing Xerox’s commitment to delivering differentiated solutions to our clients and partners.”

In 2019, the longtime joint venture between Fujifilm and Xerox came to a crashing halt after Fujifilm’s attempt to acquire Xerox was stymied by noted shareholders Carl Icahn and Darwin Deason. In late September of this year, it was announced that Xerox had repurchased all of the shares held by Icahn and associates for approximately $542 million.
