M&A Roundup: Braden Business Systems, Doing Better Business Swing Deals

A pair of dealers embraced the “buy local” mantra in announcing acquisitions this week. Braden Business Systems of Fishers, Indiana, bolstered its Midwest holdings by obtaining Lafayette Copier, roughly 67 miles away. Meanwhile, Doing Better Business of Altoona, Pennsylvania, trekked 200 miles north to Erie in closing a deal to acquire Cooper Business Machines. Here are the details:

Braden Business Systems, the leading provider of office technology, document solutions and IT-managed services, is proud to announce the acquisition of Lafayette Copier, an office equipment dealer based in Lafayette, Indiana. This acquisition is a great opportunity for Braden Business Systems to partner with Lafayette Copier in taking their business to the next level.

Erik Braden, Braden Business Systems

Erik Braden, managing partner of Braden Business Systems, said, “The Lafayette Copier team members joining Braden Business Systems are excited about the new capabilities and products that will be introduced to the market. Braden Business Systems is committed to improving leasing options and providing better support in areas such as sales, administration and logistics.”

Braden added, “This acquisition fits perfectly into our strategy of expanding throughout the Midwest, including locations close to Central Indiana. Braden Business Systems already has major accounts in Lafayette, and this acquisition will further solidify its position in the community.”

This is the 12th acquisition for Braden Business Systems in the past eight years. The company continues to push the envelope on its organic growth and acquisition strategies, with plans to acquire one or two more partner organizations per year in the next decade.

Braden Business Systems is excited to welcome Lafayette Copier to the team and looks forward to continued growth and success in the Midwest market.

Doing Better Business-Cooper Business Machines

After completing three acquisitions in 2022, Doing Better Business (DBB) picked up where it left off with this week’s deal for Cooper Business Machines. A Sharp dealership, Cooper Business Machines has served Erie and the tri-state area for more than 35 years.

Bruce and Darlene Cooper started Cooper Business Machines in 1976 to provide the highest quality service to their customers and have enjoyed many great relationships.

“Bruce, Darlene, and their team, are a perfect fit for our DBB Family,” said Debra Dellaposta, DBB president and CEO. “They have been so active in Erie as members of the Kearsarge Rotary Club, sitting courtside at the Erie Bay Hawks, and now sponsors for both the Erie Otters and the Erie Seawolves. They truly embody all of our same core values.”

Bruce Cooper, who will be staying on to work with the sales team, said, “We are so excited to work with Debbie, Beth, Joe and the entire DBB family and we know that this will elevate our offerings and customer service to our customers.”

DBB completed three acquisitions in 2022 and is excited about its first acquisition in 2023. “The ability to add and expand within our current footprint is very exciting,” said Joseph Dellaposta, DBB’s COO. “We already have some great customer relationships in Erie and are excited to welcome all Cooper Business Machines’ customers to our DBB Family.”

Last year, Doing Better Business acquired Canton Business Machines, Multiscope Document Solutions and Rocco & Strain.
