Two-Minute Drill: HP Execs Talk A3 Market Initiatives, Managed Print Cloud Services

Xavier Fernandez, HP

The April issue of ENX Magazine was brimming with information regarding managed print services and a pair of manufacturer pieces. One such article looked at HP’s Amplify Partner Program and Amplify Impact, an ambitious sustainability platform that targets three primary areas: planet, people and community.

This initiative goes well beyond the garden variety good corporate citizen ethos embraced by many businesses. It is an interesting journey HP seeks to take with its dealer partners, and we invite you to take a look at it here.

As we were shaping the April content, it became obvious that out of focus and space considerations, a couple of off-topic questions did not quite fit into the theme of the piece, and fell onto the editing room floor. But these topics are not without merit, so we’ve pulled together these questions for our Two-Minute Drill feature. Providing their views for this mini Q&A are Jeff Schaus, worldwide director of HP’s future software business within the print services solutions business; and Xavier Fernandez, global head of Indirect MPS (iMPS) go to market, print services and solutions business.

It’s been three years since HP completed the acquisition of Samsung. Can you provide an update as to the company’s quest to gain a foothold in the A3 market, fueled by PageWide technology?

Fernandez: HP is committed to bring products and services with compelling value propositions to market. With HP’s deep intellectual property across laser and ink technologies, both our A3 and A4 portfolios give customers the option to select the best technology that fits their specific needs. A new iMPS organization has been created in order to maximize our A3 market share. HP continues to invest in this channel with not only hardware solutions but also a wide range of software and services that allow partners to deliver a strong value proposition that addresses the needs of our partners and customers today and in the future.

Jeff Schaus, HP

Last year, HP announced its managed print cloud services, which supports Microsoft Universal Print. Talk a little about the advantages it offers.

Schaus: In July 2020, HP announced plans to work with Microsoft to build a cloud-to-cloud integration with the Managed Print Cloud Services platform. We are continuing to work with Microsoft on this integration, which will allow organizations to increase security, manage devices and release print jobs only to authorized users. It will also enable Universal Print users to print virtually anywhere, simply and securely.
