Sharp Showcases Technology Innovations at 2019 HIMSS Conference

Montvale, NJ (Feb. 11, 2019) — Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America (SIICA), a division of Sharp Electronics Corporation, is showcasing its technology innovations at the 2019 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference and exhibition in Orlando, FL, Feb. 11–15. During the event, Sharp will collaborate and exhibit with long-standing Sharp Partner Program member RF IDeas.

Together, Sharp and RF IDeas will present a complete solution that enables users to authenticate at any Sharp multifunction printer (MFP) by swiping their ID badges, which provides access to the print/scan/copy capability, the network resources and shared folders they are authorized to access. Sharp will also showcase how it can use its innovative products, services and technology features to help address the challenges of modern health care providers. Technologies that better enable HIPAA compliance will be shown, and leading-edge security, AI technology and high-resolution 4K Ultra HD touch displays, will be demonstrated.

A preview of the Sharp MX-C304W Color Desktop MFP will be on display during the event to demonstrate the latest in security and AI technology. Its leading-edge security features provide strong protection for customer data and personal information. Health care specific features include firmware attack prevention and a self-recovery capability, which can identify a malicious intrusion and restore the machine firmware to its original state. These are further enhanced when paired with the Secure Print Release feature available through Sharp and its Partner Program. In addition to robust security features, a new MFP Voice feature with Amazon Alexa, enables users to interact with the machine by using simple verbal commands.

Sharp will also showcase its 4K Ultra HD 70” Class (69.5” diagonal) AQUOS BOARD interactive display system. Launched last year, the award-winning display uses Sharp’s original capacitive touch technology to provide highly accurate touchscreen operation. Because of its extremely precise and smooth operation, the PN-L705H interactive display facilitates interactivity in virtually any environment and in various orientations—landscape, portrait, face up and tilted backwards. The PN-L705H interactive display also provides a more natural touch experience due to the incorporation of its direct bonding technology, which helps to minimize parallax errors and reduce reflection and refraction of light. In the medical field, specifically, it can be applied for medical training by allowing instructors to enlarge images for students to provide a close-up look at intricate details that would normally not be visible to the human eye.

Finally, Sharp will be highlighting its certifications and compatibility with leading healthcare EHR providers, such as Cerner® Millennium, McKesson STAR 2000, Epic and MEDITECH MAGIC OS. Certification helps to guarantee the interoperability of Sharp printers and MFPs with leading EHR systems.

“We’re excited to return to HIMSS for a sixth consecutive year alongside RF IDeas, our long-standing Sharp Partner Program Member,” said Shane Coffey, vice president of product management, Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America. “The annual conference provides a unique opportunity for Sharp to illustrate how our leading-edge technology can make a lasting impact on the health care community by meeting its needs both now and well into the future.”

Sharp’s technologies and solutions for the health care industry were on display at the exhibit hall Feb. 12–14 at the RF IDeas booth (#3169) during HIMSS at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
