KDI Office Technology Raises More Than $86,000 for Breast Cancer

Aston, PA (Sept. 25, 2018) — On Sept. 20, KDI Office Technology hosted its inaugural Pink Ball Golf Outing in Mt. Laurel, NJ on the fairways of football legend Ron Jaworski’s Ramblewood Country Club. A total of 160 golfers competed on a beautiful 70-degree day, raising money for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. 97.5FM The Fanatic broadcast live from the event mentioning Pink Ball frequently throughout their 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. time slot. The Philly Phanatic, the Philadelphia Phillies mascot, also was on hand to entertain golfers and available for photo opps as the 40 foursomes finished up on the course and headed into the silent auction and cocktail hour.

Between sponsorships, registration fees, silent auctions, cancer awareness shirts, raffles and contests, $86,542.00 was raised for charity. This exceeded KDI’s lofty goal: to raise $60,000 in the first year of the event.

“I am so very impressed by the hard work and dedication KDI put into planning and executing such an amazing first-year event,” commented Victoria Duda, senior community development manager for the American Cancer Society and recipient of the donation check. “I am inspired by every event that benefits the American Cancer Society; but, the attention to the customer experience and detail that was put into Pink Ball was like none I have attended before. Not only was the event beautifully done, it was also very impactful and brought a great deal of attention to the fight against breast cancer. The large donation KDI will be making from this tournament will go towards the American Cancer Society’s lifesaving breast cancer programs and services as well as breast cancer research.”

Like most people, breast cancer has touched the lives of many KDI team members. Employees regularly give back to the community through “fun”raising activities and are committed to ensuring no one fights breast cancer alone.

“Our company annually participates in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Philadelphia and South Jersey and holds various internal events throughout the year to help raise money,” said Rick Salcedo, president/CEO of KDI.

The Pink Ball tournament was created as a benefit in memory of Tom Germanovich, the brother-in-law of Salcedo and his wife and CFO, Terry. Both spoke about Germanovich at the dinner after golf, as well as General Manager Kevin Salcedo.

“Tom was like a brother to us both,” continued Salcedo, who got choked up by the sheer dollar amount on the check being presented. “He was an incredible person who taught us all the love of golf. The fact that we raised this much money to fight such a devastating disease is incredible and has me speechless. I can’t thank you all enough.”

KDI was a Presenting Sponsor of Pink Ball with a company donation of $20,000 in addition to allocating many resources to putting the event together. The company attributes their success to the dedication of the KDI Pink Ball planning team, sponsors, and players.

“What an amazing event last night,” commented Michael Felici, director of development at Widener University. “The KDI culture of family, caring and goodwill was front and center, and you can see it comes from the very top. Everyone should be very proud. I look forward to attending for years to come.”

KDI is in the process of planning its Second Annual Pink Ball Golf Outing for September 2019. For more information, please email PinkBall@kdi-inc.com.
