Brent Hoskins Celebrates 30 Years With BTA

Kansas City, MO — On November 24, 2016, Business Technology Association (BTA) Executive Director Brent Hoskins celebrated his 30th anniversary with the association.

Hoskins started out as a reporter for a newspaper in Blue Springs, Missouri, until he answered an ad for a position with the National Office Machines Dealer Association (NOMDA) in November 1986. He brought his writing and reporting skills to NOMDA and, in 1989, became editor of Office Technology magazine. In 2006, Hoskins was promoted to his dual role of executive director/editor. In the past 10 years, he has revived BTA, earning it the level of industry respect it receives today. Hoskins has done so much for BTA and the industry, and the association is fortunate to have him as its leader.

“When I came to work at BTA, then NOMDA, at 24 years of age, I knew nothing about this industry,” Hoskins said. “I was less than three years out of the School of Journalism at Mizzou and, as you might expect, the thought of writing about the office technology industry had certainly never entered my mind. However, now, 30 years later, I am grateful that the association has become such a big part of my life. In fact, it is an honor for me to be able to say that ‘BTA is my life’s work.’ It has been a wonderful experience and very rewarding in so many ways. Nov. 24, 1986, fell on Monday of that Thanksgiving week. I am glad that it falls on Thanksgiving Day this year, for I am truly thankful that BTA has given me the opportunity to serve our industry for these three decades.”

Please join us in congratulating him on his 30 years of service to the association. Tag Hoskins on Twitter @HoskinsKC and @BTA_ORG for BTA.
