Joel Quadracci to Receive 2016 Soderstrom Award

To be Honored at Annual Soderstrom Awards Dinner on September 24; Class of 2016 Soderstrom Society Inductees to be Named Shortly

Alexandria, Va. (July 7, 2016) – Idealliance is pleased to announce that Joel Quadracci will be honored as the recipient of the 56th annual Walter E. Soderstrom Award. The award will be presented at the gala Soderstrom Awards Dinner at the beautiful Tuscany Ballroom of the Orlando Ritz-Carlton, Orlando, Fla., on Saturday, September 24, 2016, the evening before the opening of GRAPH EXPO 16.

In addition to honoring the Soderstrom Award recipient, the annual Soderstrom Awards Dinner will induct a number of industry leaders into the Soderstrom Society. The Class of 2016 Soderstrom Society inductees will be named shortly.

“We are very pleased to present this award to Joel Quadracci,” says Ken Garner, Executive Vice President of Idealliance, the new association formed through the recent merger of Idealliance and Epicomm. “Joel’s commitment to our industry is exceptional and he is very deserving of the Soderstrom Award, our highest honor for industry service.”

Joel Quadracci is Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Quad/Graphics, Sussex, Wis., a company founded by his father in 1971. Joel joined the company in 1991 and held a variety of sales and strategy roles before joining the Board in 2003, becoming President and Chief Executive Officer in 2006, and adding the Chairman title in 2010.

He radically transformed the company in 2010 when he took it public and directed the acquisition and integration of World Color, creating North America’s second largest provider of print, digital, and related media services. Joel also directed the purchase of three Mexican plants from Canada’s Transcontinental Inc. in 2011, the purchase of Vertis in 2013, and the acquisition of Brown in 2014, and he led the company’s geographic expansion into Asia through a strategic partnership with Manipal Technologies, India’s largest print services and end-to-end business solutions provider.

“Although the history of the Soderstrom Award dates back a half century, this is the first Soderstrom Dinner under the banner of our newly combined associations and the first under the Idealliance name,” says Garner, “and I want to take this opportunity to encourage all our members and their suppliers to participate in this event, which many consider the industry’s most elegant evening and the best place for quality networking.

“Reserving a table at the Soderstrom Dinner offers companies the perfect opportunity to bring together their key executives and important customers or prospects in a wonderful setting,” adds Garner. “Tasteful signage on the reserved tables also provides well-deserved recognition of a company’s support of our industry at one of its signature events.”
A reserved table sponsorship for a table of 10 for the evening is offered at $5,500; a half-table of five is available at $3,000. To reserve a table or for more information, contact Marty Maloney of Broadford & Maloney Inc. at (203) 912-0804 or m.maloney@bmcorp.com. Individual tickets to the 2016 Soderstrom Awards Dinner will be available starting in August.
