New Scanner Offerings by Avision Labs Deliver on Capacity, Mobility

Avision Labs is excited to introduce two new devices as part of its product portfolio: the Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner and the FD80n Scanner. Powered by the full version of the VisioneerIntelligent Software Platform, the scanners offer versatility and an automatic document feeder (ADF) capacity that meets or exceeds competitive units.

Both units are well suited to a wide range of vertical applications. In the case of the Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner, users can enjoy quality scanning capabilities while away from the office.

Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner

The Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner is a compact and lightweight (yet powerful) document scanner. It weighs only 3.3 pounds and, when folded, measures only 11.8×4.1x 2.9″, meaning it easily fits into a briefcase or backpack. Don’t be fooled by its size, as its 50-sheet ADF (twice as much as its competitors’ capacity), 3,500 recommended daily duty cycle, and scanning speeds of up to 30 pages per minute at 300 dpi ensure the Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner handles real-world workloads with ease.

Additionally, Wi-Fi connectivity (together with the Visioneer Mobile Capture App) means users can scan directly to their iOS and Android devices, whereas USB connectivity, together with support for TWAIN, ICA, WIA, and SANE drivers, means the device can seamlessly integrate into virtually any business workflow.

Unlike most portable models, the Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner offers multi-feed detection capabilities to avoid nuisance jams while maintaining its robust ADF capacity. It connects seamlessly with document management systems, imaging applications and enterprise tools.

Saul García, distribution manager for Avision Labs, sees the model as a new standard for the category: “We’re excited for the release of this new model, which raises the bar in the portable scanner category with faster scan speeds, a larger ADF capacity, and broader driver compatibility than many competing solutions in the market.”

It boasts many applications, including finance needs (invoices, receipts and financial records) and notary-legal (deeds, contracts, powers of attorney), either in a home office or on site at a customer location.

Xerox FD80n Scanner

The Xerox FD80n is a network A3 combo scanner designed for workgroups that need to digitize different types of media. It combines both an A3 flatbed that is ideal for books, bound materials, delicate originals or irregular media that cannot be safely fed through rollers, and a high-capacity A3 ADF that processes stacks of loose documents at speeds of up to 80 pages per minute. The Xerox FD80n Scanner is equipped with both USB and network connectivity, and allows multiple users to scan directly to their PCs through Visioneer VAST Network technology, an extended implementation of TWAIN Direct.

“The Xerox FD80n features a series of interesting specs including a 100-sheet ADF and fast scanning speeds. It’s only 23” wide and 19.7” deep and sells at a suggested retail price of $3,999, making it one of the smallest and most price-competitive devices in its category,” says Regina Alvarez, marketing manager for Avision Labs. “It can be used in a wide range of environments, including law firms, healthcare, banking, the public sector, libraries and the construction industry.”

With dimensions that are 17% narrower and 44% shorter, the FD80n’s footprint is smaller than most similar devices. Its ease of use enables infrequent users to scan complex documents easily. In addition, the FD80n delivers an average cost advantage of 26% compared to other A3 combo scanners.

Both the Xerox Duplex Portable 2.0 Scanner and the Xerox FD80n Scanner come bundled with the full version of the VisioneerIntelligent Software Platform, which features one-touch scanning, data extraction, automatic file naming, intelligent document classification, and newly added MRZ capture support.
