What’s Hot & What’s Not?

This week we check back in with Chip Miceli, president of DPOE in Des Plaines, IL about what’s currently hot and what’s not in his market? DPOE sells Sharp, OKI Data, and Konica Minolta equipment.

What’s hot?

Miceli: We’ve been getting a lot of inquiries on the Sharp Polaris products and my sales people have been getting a lot of traction on it. And managed networked services is the topic everybody is talking about right now. That’s the next reoccurring revenue for our industry. I know a lot of guys who sell copiers don’t believe that, but it’s the future. We end up teaching people today how to print less, scan more, archive more, and that’s why our prints have been eroding. Reoccurring revenue is what organizations like ours live on and you need to replace it with something and managed networked services seem to be a good niche for us.

What’s not?

Miceli: Black & white machines.
