Eight Seizure Orders Issued against Firms for Violating GEOs Awarded to Canon, Epson, and HP

Actionable Intelligence has reported that on “February 18, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) issued eight more seizure-and-forfeiture orders to aftermarket supplies firms after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) caught the companies trying to import ink and toner cartridges in violation of the ITC’s general exclusion orders (GEOs).”

According to Actionable Intelligence, “In 2015, a record 60 such orders were issued in the ink and toner cartridge investigations we follow, with the uptick resulting from improved organizational changes at CBP and OEMs’ close work with the federal law-enforcement agency. In January, we saw 11 seizure orders issued (see “Welcome to 2016: Ninestar and Six Others Are Issued Seizure Orders”). Thus, so far in 2016, there have been 19 seizure orders issued to 12 different companies for violating GEOs protecting ink and toner cartridge designs.”
