Photizo Examines the Impact of MPS on Page Volume

It almost goes without saying that MPS has had a dramatic affect on page volumes. Now there’s some serious research to back that up in a new Photizo Group report, The Impact of MPS on Page Volume.

As Photizo points out, MPS programs have had an extraordinary impact on the imaging industry, including how vendors go to market, service providers manage fleets, and customers purchase print hardware and services. The report examines factors such as paper shipments, changing printing behaviors, and new technology developments.

According to Photizo, because MPS is creating a notable decline in page volume, an in-depth understanding of its influence is crucial. The decline is due to forced duplexing, print-management software, and digital workflows, which are all on the rise in the imaging industry’s rapidly evolving landscape. Multiple research studies show that this trend is showing no signs of letting up.

Many believed that the proliferation of mobile devices would present an opportunity for mobile printing, however, Photizo Group’s analysis shows that this has not been the case to date. As Photizo research has shown, few people are using mobile printing on an ongoing basis. Of the 50 respondents to Photizo Group’s 2011 U.S. Small and Medium-Size Business Printer User Survey who said they print from mobile devices, only 13 said they print “several times a month.”

An increase of MPS, intertwined with the rapid adoption of tablets and a surge in mobile device use, has fostered the recent decline in page volume, reports Photizo. Additionally, the report further explores the data that supports these statements with the research and analytics required for a full-scale understanding of page volume.
