COVID-19 Surge Prompts Kyocera to Postpone 2021 Dealer Conference in San Antonio

With a spike in COVID-19 cases brought about by the Delta variant, Kyocera Document Solutions America has decided to postpone its REIMAGINE Dealer Kickoff conference, which was originally slated for Nov. 7-9 at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio, Texas. The manufacturer is exploring its rescheduling options for a time that will provide safer conditions for attendees.

In a note to analysts, Kyocera said that the rise in case numbers, further exacerbated by the variants that continue to be identified, “have hindered our ability to deliver an event that is fitting for the importance and stature of this occasion.” It added that CDC recommendations for health checks and social distancing would have detracted from the overall experience.

Wanting to maintain the safest conditions for its employees, dealer partners and other guests, Kyocera canvassed members who were slated to attend and reached the conclusion that a postponement was the most prudent decision. The manufacturer simply did not want its event to potentially further the spread of the disease.

“We are truly disappointed that we have been forced to postpone our Dealer Conference, but we do so knowing that it is the right thing to do. We have a responsibility to keep our people safe,” said Oscar Sanchez, president and CEO, Kyocera Document Solutions America.

“We will be rescheduling the event for another time, when we are able to gather and meet each other face to face in a safe and secure way. I am as optimistic and determined as ever, and we are very excited to share with you all the things we have been working on when the conference takes place.”

Kyocera hopes to have more concrete information for a rescheduled event in the coming weeks.
