More Document Imaging Highlights for 2016, Expectations for 2017

We continue our series where industry leaders talk about their highlights from 2016 and their expectations for 2017. This week we hear from Square 9 Softworks, Innovolt, and the Business Technology Association (BTA).

Square 9 Softworks
“The Square 9 Softworks 2017 release schedule introduces several new products and feature enhancements that are guaranteed to create excitement in the dealer channel. Included in the 2017 release plan are the new File XChange 2017, updates to the GlobalForms web forms designer – featuring tighter integration with both the GlobalCapture capture automation engine and the GlobalAction business process management platform – and finally a complete refresh to the GlobalSearch web interface.

Stephen Young, Square 9

“To kick off the year, Square 9 presented a completely re-written File XChange, which now delivers direct integration between GlobalSearch ECM and the Windows File System. This simplified new approach means that users can search, view, add and edit documents through Windows Explorer without ever needing to open GlobalSearch. Users can also perform these functions directly from virtually any application including the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Suite and many others. The new File XChange changes the way users interact with GlobalSearch, especially in cases where ease of content creation and collaboration are essential.

“Square 9 will follow up with major enhancements to the GlobalForms package. Now available as an embedded component of the GlobalCapture platform, GlobalForms will utilize a single web based drag & drop workflow experience for process design. Greatly increasing design efficiency, the enhanced GlobalForms will be offered as part of GlobalSearch or as a standalone web forms solution for organization who don’t require a full ECM platform.

“In conjunction with the GlobalForms improvements, 2017 changes to GlobalSearch include options for a new grid style interface along with the traditional tile based presentation of content. With this interface change, which will be available in both GlobalSearch and GlobalSearch C2 (SaaS), Square 9 will launch a new web based document viewer control that features enhancements to both the user experience and performance.” —Steve Young, president and CEO

Innovolt

Phil Boatman, Innovolt

“2016 afforded Innovolt the ability to expand its leadership team and plant many seeds with new and prospective customers. With new platform launches and industry exposure, Innovolt saw steady growth in specific segments.

“2017 is setting up to be a year of excellent growth. The specific Innovolt message of power protection continues to be unique and will drive more dealers and OEMs to consider a critical change to old-line thinking. We aim to deliver real world, validated business changers to our partners and big results for our company!” — Phil Boatman, president

Business Technology Association
“Beyond continuing to advance its role as the industry’s premier source of educational programs, information, research, legal services, publications, and guidance for office technology dealers, we can look back at 2016 with fond memories of a particularly noteworthy milestone — the association’s 90th anniversary (www.bta.org/90thAnniversary). We featured 23 congratulatory videos from industry leaders during the year, as well as anniversary-related articles in Office Technology magazine. However, the focal point of the celebration came on June 10 with the BTA at 90: A Celebration event held at the historic Kansas City Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. It was a memorable evening of awards, great entertainment and, of course, a look back at BTA’s rich history by way of a special video presentation, displays and association archives.

Brent Hoskins, BTA

“In 2017, BTA will continue to further enhance the industry’s most enjoyable and rewarding educational and networking events (www.bta.org/BTAEvents). Total attendance at the association’s five events has increased year over year. In 2016, for example, we saw a 22.5 percent increase in total attendance over 2015. In the year ahead, I look forward to meeting many first-time attendees at the BTA’s district-hosted events, starting with the March 24 to 25 Spring Break event, hosted by BTA Southeast (www.bta.org/BTAOrlando).

“In the new year, BTA will remain diligent in its efforts to identify and implement new programs and benefits for its members. We have wasted no time. In January, BTA is launching its latest educational program, the BTA Strategic Sales Semester (www.bta.org/StrategicSales) through an alliance with Growth Achievement Partners. This new multifaceted, online training program provides dealers a means to train their sales teams how to shift to strategic sales at a fraction of the cost of in-person, classroom training. This new training program is yet another example of what can be accomplished by an association created by, governed by and dedicated to the independent dealer channel.” — Brent Hoskins, executive director
