Konica Minolta’s Product Range Reaches Highest EPEAT Certification Point Total Above Any Competitor

Ramsey, NJ (November 21, 2016) – Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., Inc., a leader in workplace technology is pleased to announce that it has achieved the highest optional point total of all imaging equipment manufacturers. Forty three of its bizhub multifunction printers (MFPs) have achieved Gold status in the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) registry, a global registry for greener, and more eco-friendly electronics.

Konica Minolta now has 62 active products on the EPEAT registry and has reached the highest total of EPEAT points of any registered imaging equipment product. In addition, 24 of the 54 imaging products on the EPEAT registry with 20 optional points or higher are manufactured by Konica Minolta.

“We are committed to attaining the highest level of environmental transparency which is becoming increasingly important to our clients and end-users,” said Kevin Kern, senior vice president, Business Intelligence Services and Product Development, Konica Minolta. “This certification not only adds value to our business across the board but helps communicate our sustainability achievements.”

Konica Minolta’s equipment uses 100 percent recycled paper in addition to power management functions and service. The Clean Planet Program is the company’s cost-free consumables recycling program that adds zero waste to landfill and zero incineration.

EPEAT requires that products meet criteria in eight environmental performance categories. These categories include factors such as the products’ packaging, its lifecycle and the types of materials it contains. Products included on the registry are measured against both required and optional criteria. A product must meet all of the required criteria in its category, and is rated Bronze, Silver or Gold depending on how many of the optional criteria are met.

EPEAT helps companies, governments, and consumers easily identify and purchase greener devices for improved environmental benefits by providing environmental ratings on electronics. Products may achieve higher ratings by meeting up to 26 additional optional criteria. The number of optional criteria met determines a product’s rating of Bronze, Silver or Gold. To achieve Gold status, a product must meet the requirements of Bronze and Silver status by meeting at least 75 percent of optional criteria.
