ACP Enjoys Successful Debut of Commercial Print Summit

All Copy Products (ACP) hosted the inaugural ACP Commercial Print Summit at its Denver headquarters on Dec. 7-8, and the event was a rousing success. Printing businesses from across the region joined national industry leaders, making for two days of learning and networking at the home of the biggest independent print dealer in Colorado.

Vendors hosted seven breakout sessions twice daily, allowing attendees to experience multiple hands-on demonstrations of the latest in printing technology, techniques, and best practices. Keynotes by John Thorburn of Canon U.S.A., special presentations by Canon and Konica Minolta, and catered lunches, happy hours, and raffle prizes capped off the event as one of this year’s premier printing escapades.

The event idea originated from ACP’s Tim Davenport and Brian Earley, the two veteran production print specialists who hosted the assembly along with Cathy Skoglund of PIASC and Brad Carnicle of ACP Lincoln.

“Brian and I set out to design an event that was more than an open house and more than a trade show. We wanted a fast-paced, dynamic, educational and fun event that was custom-tailored to commercial printers in the Denver market”, noted Davenport. “We could not be more pleased that we delivered the content we had envisioned and more, and the attendance was absolutely outstanding.”

The complete lineup of learning sessions included:

  • Automation in near-line finishing – Mimi Palomo of Duplo
  • Digital Print & Mailing – Byron Fischer of ACP
  • Meet the Prisma Family of Products – Cliff Mills of Canon
  • Advanced Prepress, Automation, and Color Management – Wendy Wu and Ray Sanchez of EFI
  • Working with Special Products and Substrates – Rob Olson of GPA
  • An Introduction to CREO – Ari Shapiro of CREO
  • Consistent Color and Automation Keynote – John Thorburn
  • Konica Minolta Technology – Tim Davenport, Brad Carnicle and Brian Earley
  • Canon Technology – Jeff Cain and Cliff Mills

Guests could view up-close demonstrations and use vendors’ cutting-edge technology for themselves in the breakout sessions. Attendees described the event as a win for everybody involved, agreeing that the best practices and innovative techniques they learned from the breakout sessions were helpful and impressive.

“It is amazing to see the growth and change in this industry and market in recent years,” said Dennis Evans from Hallmark. “The Summit really showcased ACP’s operation and their influence in the digital print space. It was extremely well planned and time well spent. So many of the key players were on display, showing their goods and services at ACP’s impressive facility.”

ACP is excited to continue hosting Commercial Print Summits at least once per year, thanks to this event’s positive feedback and overall success.
