SDG Donates $20,000 to Bob Goldberg Scholarship Fund Announcement made at BTA at 90: A Celebration

Kansas City, Mo. — On June 10 during the Business Technology Association’s (BTA’s) BTA at 90: A Celebration event at Kansas City Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri, Jim Dotter, incoming 2016-17 Select Dealer Group (SDG) president and president of Virginia Business Systems, Richmond, Virginia, announced a $20,000 donation from SDG to the Bob Goldberg Scholarship fund. The donation is the largest contribution to the fund to date.

“SDG members appreciate all that Bob has done for our channel, the industry and our organizations and we wanted to honor his legacy of years of exceptional work,” Dotter said. “He has had a positive impact, either directly or indirectly, on all of our companies and, for that, we thank him.”

In 2015, BTA established an annual scholarship in honor of BTA General Counsel Bob Goldberg, thanking him for his many years of dedicated service to the association. The fund is part of the BTA Scholarship Foundation, which was established in 1968. The foundation is supported by continuing contributions from individual dealers, as well as manufacturers and distributors.

Each year, BTA awards a number of $1,000 and $1,500 scholarships to qualifying children of full-time employees of dealerships that are current BTA Retail Dealer members. Beginning in 2015, an annual $3,000 scholarship was established with the Bob Goldberg Scholarship fund. Since the 1984-85 school year, the Business Technology Association has awarded 1,378 scholarships totaling $1,553,500 to the sons and daughters of the full-time employees of member dealerships.

Founded in 1926, the Business Technology Association serves office technology dealerships, resellers, manufacturers, distributors and service companies. Its core members — office technology dealerships — consult, sell and service hardware, software and supplies with the primary goal of helping businesses optimize business document and information workflows. Through the association’s various educational programs, information, research, legal services, publications and guidance, BTA member dealerships are positioned to be the premier source of the office technology used by businesses throughout the United States every day. For more information on BTA, visit www.bta.org.
