ProCopy Foundation Hosting its 6th Annual Very Unique Charity Golf Classic

(Phoenix, Ariz.) April 1, 2016 – The ProCopy Foundation, the non-profit arm of locally owned ProCopy Office Solutions is hosting a very unique golf event for the 6th time in early May.

The 6th Annual ProCopy Foundation Gary S. Clancy Memorial Golf Classic is taking place on Friday May 6th at the Arizona Grande Resort. Mr. Clancy was the President of locally owned Uni-Copy from 1973-1993 when the company was sold. He was a legend in the office machine community and a huge supporter of both the youth of the Valley and all things ASU.

Both the Founder and President of ProCopy began their careers at Uni-Copy in the early 1980s and consider him a mentor in many ways. “I personally learned more about doing the right thing, giving back and “paying it forward” from Gary than from anyone I ever worked with,” said Mike McGuirk, President of ProCopy. “Establishing a scholarship in his name at ASU, a place he loved and supported seemed like the perfect way to honor him. With the rising cost of college tuition, so many families could use the help and we are proud to be a part of way to give back”.

What makes the scholarship so unique is that it is designed to be won by someone in the office machine industry and no one connected to ProCopy is eligible. This means ProCopy is awarding to the families of their competitors in an industry known for cut throat competition. “This industry has been good to us and we felt like for one day we can come together in the spirit of good will that defined Clancy and simply support a family in need”, said Tim Stevenson, ProCopy Founder.

The scholarship reached endowment status through the ASU Foundation in 2012, which means it will live on in perpetuity. It now resides in the WP Carey School of Business. The ProCopy Foundation will continue to raise money each year to keep the amount awarded growing. So far over $100,000 has been raised by the ProCopy Foundation

In addition, for the past several years The ProCopy Foundation has supported 2 other charities that support youth and families. In the past the event has supported great groups like The Grand Canyon State Games and the 100 Club of Phoenix, CASS.PCH, Big Brother/ Big Sisters, Boys & Girls Club to name a few. This year for the 2nd time the event will support Child Crisis Arizona who supports the most vulnerable children in the state. (www.childcrisisaz.org) In addition, we will be supporting The Jillian Fund,Dear Cassandra Lyman,Dear Cassandra Lyman, a charity that supports the parents of critically ill children. The Jillian Fund believes that children facing life-threatening illnesses should never face them alone and is dedicated to uniting families in need during their most critical times (www.thejillianfund.org). In addition, MWA Intelligence, Inc., a Scottsdale-based office technology software provider and a ProCopy Foundation sponsor, is sponsoring a nationwide motorcycle ride for The Jillian Fund over Memorial Day Weekend from Arizona to Washington DC. Monies raised from the golf event will be added to monies raised from the ride of which 100% goes directly to the charity.

Many great companies have signed on as sponsors including the Phoenix Suns, Arizona Diamondbacks, Ricoh, Canon, Wells Fargo, US Bank, Ever Bank, The Thunderbirds and MWA
