M&A Roundup: Pacific Office Automation Nabs Western Business Products, ACP Doubles Down on Texas Acquisitions

Adam Pritchett, POA

The hot again, cold again world of mergers and acquisitions has been warming in recent weeks. ACP is proof of that. The company formerly known as All Copy Products of Denver struck twice, obtaining a pair of Texas-based operations: MFD Business Solutions of Dallas and Advanced Business Copiers of Houston.

Out on the left coast, Pacific Office Automation (POA) tapped into The Golden State, snagging Western Business Products of Redding, California. We’ll start with the details surrounding the POA deal.

The largest office equipment reseller and managed services provider in the nation, POA announced the acquisition of Western Business Products. During a phased transition, the company will operate as Western Business Products Powered by POA.

The acquisition extends POA’s footprint into Redding, creating a continuous service presence between its Medford, Oregon, and Sacramento, California offices. The added location enables more consistent, responsive support for customers along the Interstate 5 corridor.

“This acquisition strengthens our ability to serve customers across a key stretch of the region,” said Adam Pritchett, CEO, Pacific Office Automation. “We’re excited to welcome Western Business Products’ employees to the POA family while continuing to deliver the same high level of service their customers have come to expect.”

Western Business Products will continue operating under its existing name in the near term to ensure continuity for customers, with full integration into the Pacific Office Automation brand planned over time.

“After 25 years building this business, I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished,” said Dennis McGalliard, owner, Western Business Products. “Finding the right partner mattered, and POA stood out as an independent company that puts customers and employees first. I’m confident they’ll build on what we started.”

Western Business Products has long served the Redding market as a Ricoh Authorized dealer, a designation POA intends to maintain. Customers can expect the same quality products, services, and support, now backed by the expanded resources and scale of Pacific Office Automation.

Celebrating its 50th year in business, POA marks 49 consecutive years of growth while expanding its impact across the communities it serves. Its recently released Community Impact Report highlights support for 175 organizations in health, education, community, and athletics. To support continued growth and deliver even stronger service, POA is expanding its teams across the region.

ACP-MFD Business Solutions and Advanced Business Copiers

The transactional Texas two-step was actually a singular deal, as both MFD Business Solutions of Dallas and Advanced Business Copiers of Houston were controlled by the same ownership. The deal marks a significant and exciting step in ACP’s growth beyond the Rocky Mountain region and into one of the country’s largest business markets.

Clients of both MFD Business Solutions and Advanced Business Copiers can expect a seamless transition. All team members at both companies are being retained in their current roles. The same trusted professionals clients have worked with will continue to serve them, only now backed by ACP’s expanded resources, deeper portfolio, and five decades of operational excellence.

Brad Knepper, ACP

“Welcoming MFD Business Solutions and Advanced Business Copiers into the ACP family is a proud moment for us,” said Brad Knepper, ACP president. “Both companies have built loyal client bases and talented teams in their markets, and that kind of culture fits right in with who we are. We’re excited to grow our presence in Texas and even more excited about what we’ll accomplish together.”

These acquisitions open the door to a significantly broader range of solutions for clients in both markets. Where MFD Business Solutions and Advanced Business Copiers focused primarily on print equipment, clients will now have access to ACP’s full portfolio, including mailing systems, interactive displays, custom merchandise and apparel, and a comprehensive suite of IT services through Verticomm, ACP’s managed IT division.

Verticomm brings managed IT infrastructure, business phone systems, and state-of-the-art security solutions to the table — giving Texas clients the kind of single-source technology partnership that ACP has built its reputation on across Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, and Arizona.
