Rods and Cones Releases Out of Chaos Winter Issue

Now available for download on smartphones, iPads and Kindle

SANTA CRUZ, CA (March 8, 2016) — Rods and Cones announces the publication of Out of Chaos Magazine, winter 2016. Whereas the previous issues were available for iPad and Kindle, this issue, and all future ones, can be now downloaded on smartphones, as well as on iPads and the Kindle.

We conducted a survey in our last issue,” says publisher Erica Aitken “and, if six respondents said they would not read Out of Chaos on a phone, ten wished for such a format. We’re happy to comply.”

Out of Chaos is a digital quarterly magazine for the graphic and printing industries. The magazine has no advertising and is free to everyone. Out of Chaos delivers content to the graphic and printing industries. The articles range from technical to general, and are illustrated with interactive media. The winter issue describes in detail the events at the PIA’s last Color Conference, in December 2015. It’s at this particularly important event that new color management standards and technologies were introduced.

We interviewed David Blatner, InDesign’s most prolific advocate, and a very interesting person,” added Son Do. The interview is just one example of the wide range of topics in every issue of Out of Chaos. In this issue:

  • Kevin O’Connor, regular contributor to Out of Chaos, brings readers up to date on monitor displays and reveals, for the first time, the need to consider tomorrow’s technology when choosing today’s standards;
  • The Ghent Workgroup is a productive organization of volunteers that brings PDF to the very sophisticated open format it is today. “The work they do is so important,” says writer Rich Apollo. “Everyone needs to know that they exist”;
  • Out of Chaos also showcases what is possible in digital publishing and Rods and Cones wants to make it easy to step into this brand new sandbox.
