What’s Hot & What’s Not?

This week Joseph Dellaposta, vice president at WPS, Inc. in Hagerstown, MD discusses what’s hot and what’s not in his market.

What’s Hot?

Dellaposta: The hottest thing that we are seeing is the convergence of MPS with an entire technology refresh. MPS is important because people want to do more with less. They don’t want to sacrifice ability or efficiency, but they do want to lower costs. This is opening the door to network infrastructure upgrades, which then leads into managed network and cloud services like hosted exchange. The emergence and popularity of smart phones have made people realize how important it is to stay connected, not just with each other but with their information. They want to integrate document access, e-mail, cloud computing and back-up into their business but they don’t know how to carry out the vision or fully understand what is needed. This is where WPS comes in to assist them.

What’s Not?

Dellaposta: Traditional hardware devices such as fax, inkjet printers, and even low-end MFPs.  There is very little difference between one manufacturer’s device and another’s. Hardware has never been exciting and is becoming even less now. More and more it is coming down to who can give the lowest price while making the biggest promises.
