Kyocera releases new TASKAlfa 406ci series A4 color MFPs

TASKalfa_406ci-7Earlier this month, Kyocera announced the release of the new 406ci series of A4 color MFPs under its TASKAlfa brand.

Previously, the TASKAlfa brand consisted solely of the more robust A3 machines, but according to Kyocera, the “legendary technology” was now scalable to configurations in an A4 platform that hadn’t been seen before.

The 406ci series color MFPs include the 406ci (42ppm), 356ci (37ppm) and 306ci (32ppm).

According to Kyocera, the 406ci series brings the most advanced functionality in its class while “leveraging the strengths that customers have come to expect from Kyocera,” including Tiered-Color System capability and Long-life technology.

Features include the tablet-like interface, expanded media capability and 1200 x1200 dpi printing capability (on the two higher-speed models) for “powerful color image output.”

Kyocera touted the 406ci series finishing options, claiming they can “maintain their compact footprint even with the internal finishing capabilities” and that “these MFPs can be as compact or robust as the office needs demand.”

Kyocera says that it is going beyond multi-function printing and looking to solve document workflow problems for the customer. They state that the TASKalfa 406ci series “integrates seamlessly with a wide range of powerful Kyocera-developed or third-party business applications (requires an SD card on the TASKalfa 306ci), simplifying a range of complex document management challenges faced by businesses of all sizes.” Kyocera went on to say that “the most popular business applications available for the TASKalfa 406ci series include, DocuWare Connector, DMConnect, CentraQ Pro, SharePoint Connector and KYOCERA Cloud Connect.”

At its press briefing, Kyocera noted that the ASI and OPC drum technologies are energy star compliant, and that “they will offer some of the lowest PEC values in the industry.”

Kyocera also expressed that it wants dealers to present the 406ci series to create new business, particularly with verticals. They stated how they intend to introduce it to new sales channels to meet customer requirements in healthcare, education and finance.

The toner supplies and yields are different for all three models. The 406ci uses ASi technology and yields 300,000 pages while the 356ci and 306ci utilize OPC technology with a yield of 200,000 pages.
