Static Control’s South African Office Participates in 2015 Rhino Ride

Employees Will Trek Through 70 Kilometers on Bicycles

Johannesburg, South Africa, Aug. 10, 2015 – Static Control will again sponsor the upcoming 2015 Rhino Ride, a two-day bike ride through the Zululand Rhino Reserve in KwaZulu-Natal, on August 29-30. The 20 member team, four of which are Static Control employees based out of Johannesburg, will cycle more than 70 kilometers throughout the private nature reserve which is home to many rhinoceroses and other endangered species.

Money raised from the Rhino Ride will be donated to the Zululand Rhino Reserve Foundation, a conservation group focused on ending poaching and protecting endangered animals in South Africa. Rhino poaching is a significant problem in South Africa, which is home to the largest population of rhinos in the world. During 2014, a staggering 1,215 rhinos were killed by poachers in South Africa; that’s one every eight hours. The poaching is predominantly driven by illegal trade in rhino horn to Asian countries.

“Static Control has always been focused on environmentalism. Our industry began as an alternative to wasteful plastics,” said Stuart Lacey, Managing Director for Static Control South Africa. “It is natural for us to extend our eco-friendly message to this issue, which is close to our hearts here.” Along with Lacey, Unit Business Managers Grant Parker and Anton Swart and Sales Representative Lorry Lacey will ride on Static Control’s team.

Donations can be made online through the ThisIsKZN website (link below). Donors of more than 100 South African Rands will be entered into a drawing for a two-night stay at the Mavela Game Lodge, a luxury tented lodge that features a swimming pool and sun deck.
