{"id":9194,"date":"2013-10-01T21:26:48","date_gmt":"2013-10-02T01:26:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/?p=9194"},"modified":"2014-11-01T22:00:57","modified_gmt":"2014-11-02T02:00:57","slug":"xerox-wc-7425-style-technical-information-part-ii-managing-consumables-hfsis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/tech-tip\/2013\/10\/xerox-wc-7425-style-technical-information-part-ii-managing-consumables-hfsis\/","title":{"rendered":"Xerox WC 7425 style Technical Information &#8211; Part II (Managing Consumables \/ HFSI\u2019s)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em> Xerox<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> WorkCentre 7425, 7428, 7435 &amp; 7525, 7530, 7535, 7545, 7556, <\/em>&amp; 7830, 7835, 7845, 7855<\/p>\n<p>Last month we got started on the Tech Info for the Xerox<sup>\u00ae<\/sup> 7425 style.\u00a0 We had a look at the fault code meanings, and how to reset some of the codes.\u00a0 Now we\u2019ll look at things like the various versions of toner cartridges and the stated yields for some of the other consumables \/ HFSI\u2019s (High Frequency Service Items).<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re going to be taking these machines into the fold, you\u2019ll want to know a few things about the various versions of the Toner Cartridges.\u00a0 There are two types of Toner Cartridges here in the U.S. (Sold Plan vs. Metered Plan), and then overseas there is another kind called the \u201cDMO\u201d version (Developing Market Operations).\u00a0 They are not interchangeable and if you install the wrong version, the machine will reject it with a fault code (\u201cToner CRUM Data Mismatch Fail\u201d).\u00a0 The fault codes for having the wrong cartridge are 093-926 (for Black), 093-960 (for Yellow), 093-961 (for Magenta), or 093-962 (for Cyan).<\/p>\n<p>Guessing which version a machine will require is getting tricky.\u00a0 At first, most of the machines folks ran across were under the \u201cSold\u201d plan, but as more machines are coming off of lease and being resold into the market, we are hearing of a mixture of Sold vs. Metered versions out there.\u00a0 If you are not sure which version of toner cartridges a particular machine is looking for, you\u2019ll want to go into the NVM (Non Volatile Memory) settings and read a pair of NVM values.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entering Diagnostics Mode:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First, here\u2019s a refresher on how to enter Diagnostic Mode (or CE Mode as they call it). The machine sets up its \u201cGeographic Setting\u201d and \u201cContract Type\u201d based on the first replacement toners introduced to it.<\/p>\n<p>The toner cartridge estimated yields (based on 5% coverage) are 26K for Black and 15K for Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow.\u00a0 They will \u201ctime out\u201d even if they\u2019re not completely empty thanks to the Toner Reset CRUM chips on the cartridges.\u00a0 The Toner CRUM chips also tell the machine which color they are, which \u201cversion\u201d of the toner cartridges they are, and how many prints the cartridge has already run.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Drum Cartridges<\/strong> (013R00647 for models 7425-7435 and 013R00662 for models 7525-7556 &amp; 7830-7855) appear 4 times in the machine (one for each color position).\u00a0 The yield is stated as being 56K for the 7425 version and 125K for the 7525 version.\u00a0 The counters are reset automatically when the new drum cartridges are installed (a new Drum Reset CRUM is the key here).\u00a0 If you want to rebuild a drum cartridge, you\u2019d want to pick up the drum, the Blade, the Charge Roller and the appropriate Drum Reset CRUM chip.\u00a0 If you suspect that one of the cartridges might be causing a copy quality issue, you can swap one for another without any problem.<\/p>\n<p>Then there\u2019s the <strong> Toner Waste Container<\/strong> (008R13061) which has a stated yield of 43K.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a list of the other consumables with their associated HFSI codes, yields and notes about how to reset the counters.<\/p>\n<p><strong>HFSI Codes and yields:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/table.png\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-9197\" src=\"http:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/table.png\" alt=\"table\" width=\"1191\" height=\"596\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/table.png 1191w, https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/table-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/table-1024x512.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1191px) 100vw, 1191px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>*\u00a0 As noted in last month\u2019s article, some of the HFSI counters can be reset by the User easily enough.\u00a0 Simply press the \u2018Machine Status\u2019 button and select the \u2018Supplies\u2019 tab on the control console.\u00a0 Select the consumable you want to reset and press \u2018Reset Counter\u2019 on the screen.<\/p>\n<p>** Some HFSI counters require resetting from Diagnostics.\u00a0 Enter Diagnostic Mode (CE Diagnostics) as explained earlier in this article and choose \u2018Adjustment \/ Others\u2019 from the menu.\u00a0 Select \u2018HFSI Counter.\u2019\u00a0 Scroll down the list and find the HFSI you want to reset and press \u2018Details.\u2019\u00a0 To clear the counter, select \u2018Reset Current Value.\u2019\u00a0 The screen will say \u2018Job completed.\u2019\u00a0 You can also \u201cChange Spec Life\u201d if you want a particular counter to go longer between replacement messages.\u00a0 Press \u2018Close\u2019 when you\u2019re done.<\/p>\n<p>There are a few alternate Boot Modes you can use if the machine is having trouble booting up.\u00a0 These may help you get rid of erroneous codes or commands which cause trouble in the booting process.\u00a0 Keep in mind you may lose some information (such as a print jobs in the queue) by using these alternate start-up methods.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special Boot Modes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Log Initialization<\/strong>: this will delete any print or copy job which is in progress before the machine boots up.\u00a0 To boot up with \u201cJob Log Initialization,\u201d hold the \u20181\u2019, the \u2018Stop\u2019, and the \u2018Energy Saver\u2019 buttons all together while turning on the power.\u00a0 Keep holding the buttons until the boot up screen with the progress bar appears.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spool Initialization<\/strong>: this will delete all pending print or copy jobs in the queue\u00a0 before the machine boots up.\u00a0 To boot up using \u201cSpool Initialization,\u201d hold the \u20186\u2019, the \u2018Stop\u2019, and the \u2018Energy Saver\u2019 buttons simultaneously while you turn on the power.\u00a0 Keep holding the buttons till the boot up screen appears.<\/p>\n<p>There are other special Boot Modes, but the other ones are not to be taken lightly, so we won\u2019t cover them here.\u00a0 One is for initializing the HDD which wipes out all customer data.\u00a0 The final one initializes the ESS NVM (memory) which would then require someone to come along with the PWS laptop to reload all of the Memory Settings for the machine.<\/p>\n<p>I think that should do it for this month.\u00a0 Next article we\u2019ll sift though the rather lengthy list of Component Controls available to you from Diagnostics so you can test sensors, motors, clutches, etc.\u00a0 Have a great September!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Xerox\u00ae WorkCentre 7425, 7428, 7435 &amp;
