Try walking around the office and engaging with your employees. To be mentally present, practice being an \u201cactive listener.\u201d Give your employees the time and attention they deserve. The next time they come into your office, ask them to have a seat, and then turn away from your computer, ignore your phone, and listen.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Share the credit and shoulder the blame.<\/strong> Many so-called \u201cleaders\u201d are distrusted because they are seen as self-serving, being primarily interested in their own benefits. Leadership should be for the benefit of the people. The biggest mistake you could make is to focus on \u201cme\u201d rather than your customers and the company.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thank people for their contributions.<\/strong> Everyone needs to know that they are appreciated, and showing gratitude and recognition from the leader can go a long way!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Show you care.<\/strong> You can do this by displaying your appreciation and respect for them.
