Tapping into the strength of its PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology value proposition, Epson America announced the release of its WorkForce Pro WF-C8410 color desktop multifunction printer. While not a direct replacement, the WF-C8410 is a nice fit in lieu of the manufacturer\u2019s recently retired EC line, according to Kaila Murphy, product manager, business inkjet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The unit, which carries a minimum advertised price of $219, prints 25 black\/12 color ISO pages per minute. The WF-C4810 featured duplex, auto two-sided printing and built-in copy, scan and fax capabilities. A two-year warranty is included, and users can benefit from zero warmup time and fast first-page delivery\u2014enhanced by the lowest power consumption in its class.1<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Murphy, the WF-C4810 addresses a number of trends Epson has observed in the marketplace, namely the hybrid work environment, a small footprint and the need for spacing within the office. Perhaps most importantly, the manufacturer identified the need for a reliable entry-level option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEpson is committed to empowering businesses with tools and technologies that use fewer resources to help move the needle when it comes to environmental impact,\u201d Murphy said. \u201cThe WorkForce Pro WF-C4810 not only supports ultra-productive workflows but also offers the benefits of low power consumption and cost-effective, high-quality color printing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The WF-C4810 has many similarities to the now-retired EC-4040, and Epson built on that offering by increasing the monthly duty cycle, cartridge ink yield and the black print speed. Compatible with Epson\u2019s Smart Panel App, the machine features the same small footprint and is ideal for both the retail (both back-office and behind the counter) and work-from-home environments. Murphy also sees applications for K-12 and higher education, state\/local government and health care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Epson has also been open to configuring devices so that they are tailored to the specific requirements of clients, Murphy noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve really grown in the health care industry recently, and part of that has been due to our ability to customize,\u201d she said. \u201cWe had a recent customer that needed to turn off or disable the WiFi in all of the printers. In order to do that, it needed to be done at the firmware level. We created a customized firmware for them, we deployed it at our warehouses and shipped the fully configured device.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another client required a watermark to be printed on every page, and Epson created another customized firmware to meet that need. \u201cWe\u2019re very open to doing these customizations to fit various customer needs,\u201d Murphy added. \u201cThis is something we will be doing going forward, including with the C4810.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
