After all,\nwho doesn\u2019t enjoy validation for the work required to make the company, its\nclients and partners successful? Ironically, the highest of praise is generally\nreserved for those individuals who most exemplify the \u201cteam player\u201d concept.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Take Jeff Dotzler, the president of Elevity, a division of\nthe Gordon Flesch Company that provides cloud, cybersecurity and managed IT\nsupport to organizations across the Midwest. When he was given his first\nopportunity to lead a sales team in downtown Chicago, Dotzler felt an\noverwhelming sense of appreciation and responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat feeling that an organization has entrusted you with\nkey assets and resources to be a good steward and deliver a return\u2014all while\ntaking care of the client first\u2014set a path for my career that has served me\nwell,\u201d said Dotzler, a 2020 <em>ENX Magazine<\/em>\nDifference Maker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In that role as a team player, Dotzler can view challenges from multiple angles in order to seek out a solution that benefits everyone involved. While he never had the opportunity to work with the company\u2019s founder, Dotzler takes his team-mentality cues from Gordon Flesch and the culture that sprouted from his guidance\u2014still perpetuated by subsequent generations of Flesch leadership\u2014to take care of the customer and do things the right way. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were lucky enough to acquire a strong MSP (Information Technology Professionals) this year and I was able to leverage these skills to build a great relationship and develop a win\/win outcome that will pay off for us over the long term,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Path<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The office technology and IT worlds weren\u2019t exactly on Dotzler\u2019s\nradar when he graduated from the University of Iowa. He\u2019d planned on following\nin his father\u2019s footsteps and become an independent agent for a major insurance\ncompany. The road toward that goal included spending three years in an\noperations role. The acquisition of\nInformation Technology Professionals paved the way for the creation of Elevity\nand Dotzler\u2019s promotion to president of the division. He is tasked with the integration\nof the managed IT arm; the name itself combines the word elevation with\nsecurity and productivity, with the goal of leveraging client use of technology\nto achieve optimal results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have much to learn and experience along this journey,\u201d Dotzler\nsaid. \u201cMy current responsibilities leading the Elevity team will allow me to\nutilize all of my experiences, both good and bad, to build something special\nand lasting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dotzler and his wife of 20 years, Katie, have three children\u2014Anne,\n18, Jack, 16, and Ellen, 13. They have logged many hours watching their kids\ncompete in sports and are heavily involved in booster clubs and fundraising\nactivities within the community. He enjoys golfing and taking vacations near\nthe water.
