Is there a path toward advancement? Are the job\nduties fairly static, or is there room for maneuvering even slightly outside\nday-to-day activities? And are the core values just a vanilla list of\nhonesty\/integrity banalities, or is there substance behind what is being preached\nfrom an HR perspective?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re just ruthlessly focused on the experience,\u201d notes\nJosh Britton, vice president of operations for Oak Park, Michigan-based\nimageOne. \u201cWe practice open-book finance and bring more of an owner\u2019s mentality\ninto everyone\u2019s experience here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Avoiding Complacency<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Josh-Britton.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-38068\"\/><figcaption>Josh Britton, imageOne<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This dealer relies on a robust mentoring and coaching program through its imageOne University. imageOne regularly sends its employees to a variety of conferences, many of which are not industry-specific. Standing still is stagnating, and the company emphasizes continuous improvement as one of its core values and approaches it \u201cwith a humility that keeps us from ever being complacent,\u201d Britton added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While all companies claim to listen to what their employees\nhave to say, the difference between lip service and reacting in an actionable\nfashion can spell the difference between high and nonexistent turnover. \u201cWe\nwant to know if we\u2019re not fulfilling the promise to our team,\u201d he observed. \u201cWe\nwant to know what we aren\u2019t doing well, attacking those items and staying\nvigilant. It\u2019s all about having a mindset that we can be doing better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Helping employees achieve a life\/work balance is another\ncritical factor that ensures employees their needs are being met. Each year,\nimageOne has its employees state their visions and goals for what they hope to\naccomplish in their personal and professional lives. The dealer then seeks to\nplay a role in their fulfillment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As an example, leadership noted a trend among several\nemployees across the country who had a \u201cbucket list\u201d item of going skydiving. imageOne\nbrought eight employees in from around the country and took them out for an\nafternoon skydiving adventure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTreating people and the totality of their lives has served\nus well as a company,\u201d Britton remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>No Hunting Allowed<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Employee poaching is a very real issue for dealers,\naccording to Matteo Recanatini, director of marketing for Offix of Gainesville,\nVirginia.
