At any given time, one or more of\nthe edicts can apply to a given situation. And each has served him well in\nguiding the firm alongside his brother, President Gregg Petrie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLeading the company is important, but it\u2019s also important\nto follow when you are not the expert,\u201d notes Mark Petrie, a 2019 <em>ENX Magazine<\/em> Difference Maker. \u201cIt\u2019s\nalso important to get out of the way of your employees and allow them to do a\ngreat job. All three are vital at different times and circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graduate of Western Washington University (like his\nbrother), Petrie is proud of the growth Copiers Northwest has enjoyed during\nits 34-year history. Delivering best-in-class service has been a hallmark of\nthe company, and Petrie relishes playing a role in enabling his clients to\nbecome more efficient. Petrie is particularly proud of the tenure enjoyed by\nmany of the dealer\u2019s employees, including managers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHow we treat our people translates into how they, in turn,\ntreat our customers,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Strength in Assets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The power of holdings was driven home to Petrie while he was\nstill in college. His college economics professor preached about the importance\nof owning property such as stocks, companies and real estate. That played a\nrole in the creation of the dealership, and the Petries owning most of the\ncompany\u2019s 12 locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Petrie also credits some of his success to joining the CEO\norganization Vistage 10 years ago. He has used many of the takeaways offered by\npeers and applied it to both his professional and personal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Suffice to say, Petrie was paying attention in economics class. Earlier in 2019, the brothers sold their headquarters property for 570 times the initial cash investment, not including the rents paid to themselves. The Petries are now in a five-year leaseback agreement with the national firm that purchased the land as part of a billion-dollar biotech project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"286\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/2019-Difference-Makers-emblem-1-286x300-3-286x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-37714\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur focus for the next few years is to grow and have\nCopiers Northwest customers be remarkable with our products, print production\ncenter, solutions and services,\u201d Petrie said. \u201c(We\u2019re looking) to improve our\ncustomers\u2019 operations with new ideas and new solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Floaty Obsession<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boating is a significant passion for Petrie, who has a small fishing boat along with a mid-sized vessel that is rack-kept near Puget Sound. Petrie also has a sport boat that\u2019s used for water skiing and wake surfing that he keeps on his dock.
