In fact, the man himself admits to entering the industry with his\n\u201ceyes wide shut.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George\u2019s foray into the industry came via unfortunate\ncircumstances. A veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during Operation Desert\nShield\/Storm in the early 1990s, George went to Miami in 1999 to take care of\nhis father, who was facing a terminal illness. While there, he interviewed with\nLanier and was offered a job. It was the genesis of a 20-year career working\nfor such luminaries as Konica Minolta, Ricoh, Neopost and ProSource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t really do any research (on the industry) and\ndidn\u2019t put any thought into it, either,\u201d said George, a 2019 <em>ENX Magazine<\/em> Difference Maker. \u201c(But)\nthe decision was a great one and it still is.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George has found a home in Cincinnati as president of\nDonnellon McCarthy Enterprises (DME), spearheading a coast-to-coast expansion\ninitiative that has seen the company acquire dealers in Ohio, West Virginia and\nIllinois. Beyond geography, George is also a huge proponent of individual\ngrowth and takes great satisfaction in seeing team members grow personally and\nprofessionally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Place to Be<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George has made it his mission to enhance the company\u2019s\nreputation as a great place to work. That\u2019s been validated as DME has earned a trio\nof consecutive Top Workplaces in Cincinnati awards since his arrival. And he\u2019s\nraised the team concept at DME with his \u201cOne Team, One Vision, One Goal\u201d\nslogan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That level of excellence is a standard that George holds\nhimself to, as well. \u201cI care about our industry and where it is headed,\u201d he\nsaid. \u201cI try to learn as much as possible and do not shy away from hard\ndiscussions. My job as a coach and leader is taken very seriously, with a twist\nof fun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Life has taught George that our existence is fleeting, and\nthat it\u2019s important not to worry about the small matters we encounter on a\ndaily basis. \u201cIt\u2019s OK to have fun at work,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Signs of Success<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"286\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2019-Difference-Makers-emblem-1-286x300-4-286x300.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-35986\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Still, George makes sure that he\u2019s taking care of business,\nand the dealer has the hardware to prove it. The\ncompany also garnered the Torch award from the Better Business Bureau for\nbusiness ethics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The future is looking bright for DME. George is predicting\ndouble-digital growth for 2019, and his goal is to remain focused on his core competencies.\nHe hopes to continue his personal growth at home and through the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>George and his wife, Claudia, have three grown sons. They\nlove to travel as a family.
