That sense of accomplishment for a job well done is\nhighly satisfying and fulfilling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You won\u2019t find a plumber\u2019s wrench or a screwdriver in Jim\nKahrs\u2019 professional tool belt, but you will find that same drive and motivation\nto effect repairs on an ill-performing business and get it humming along better\nthan it was previously. His shirt won\u2019t be covered with grease, but Kahrs does\ngain that same level of satisfaction in a job well done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHelping someone navigate the turnaround of a company that\nhas been struggling or helping set up and execute an exit strategy makes a real\nimpact on the lives the owners, employees and families of the business,\u201d said\nKahrs, a 2019 <em>ENX Magazine<\/em> Difference\nMaker. \u201cHaving this type of long lasting impact is quite rewarding.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As president of Prosperity Plus Management Consulting, he\nhas helped more than 350 dealers through one-on-one consulting, marketing\nprograms and M&amp;A negotiations. He founded the firm in 2001, backed by\nextensive experience with companies including Monroe Systems for Business, Mita\n(KYOCERA) and Carr Business Systems (Global Imaging Systems).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Guide to Success<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fact, Kahrs entered the industry shortly after graduating\nfrom the University of Maine, seeking a sales position because he was intrigued\nby the potential that the copier world had to offer him. Thirty-plus years\nlater, Kahrs still has a passion for the industry and helping its members chart\nthe direction that is most suited for them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe willingness to roll up my sleeves and get in the\ntrenches with the dealer owners and managers makes a big impact,\u201d he noted. \u201cBeyond\nthat, I try to step back and look at the big picture at all times. Finally, I\nstrive to take complicated issues and resolve them with simple, straight\nforward strategies.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While Kahrs can\u2019t point to any one major career influencer,\nhe has had the benefit of receiving sage advice from a number of individuals at\nvarious junctures in his career. He has studied the high-performing dealers\nwithin the industry to examine the scaffolding behind how they differentiate\nthemselves from the pack to develop his own set of best practices. In doing so,\nKahrs believes it has helped him grow and improve as a consultant, coach and person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLife is all about balance, and you don\u2019t get to turn back\nthe clock for a do-over,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Industry in\nTransition<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the more recent highlights for Kahrs was seeing\nProsperity Plus achieve recognition as a Certified Value Builder. He points out\nthat given the sheer volume of baby boomers in the industry that will continue\nto trek down the path toward transition, having the tools to help them create\nand execute successful exit strategies will become more and more important\ngoing forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It doesn\u2019t hurt that Kahrs maintains a high level of\nvisibility throughout the industry as a frequent conference speaker whose\nthoughts have also appeared in various trade publications.
