{"id":28261,"date":"2018-02-26T23:48:10","date_gmt":"2018-02-27T07:48:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/?p=28261"},"modified":"2018-02-26T23:48:43","modified_gmt":"2018-02-27T07:48:43","slug":"ghosting-smudging-or-not-fusing-properly-on-plain-paper-hp-enterprise-m601-m602-and-m603-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/tech-tip\/2018\/02\/ghosting-smudging-or-not-fusing-properly-on-plain-paper-hp-enterprise-m601-m602-and-m603-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghosting, smudging, or not fusing properly on \u201cPlain\u201d paper HP Enterprise M601, M602 and M603 Series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Issue Description:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Poor fusing and smearing print when running normal 20-24lb printer paper (75-90gsm).<\/li>\n<li>Paper type identified as \u201cLight\u201d rather than \u201cNormal\u201d causing the fusing of the toner to weaken over long print jobs or on different quality papers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Identify if the Paper type for \u201cPlain\u201d paper is set to \u201cNormal\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>How to check and change Paper Type \u201cPlain\u201d from \u201cLight\u201d to \u201cNormal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: This can be done at the printer\u2019s control panel or through EWS (Embedded Web Server).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Using printer\u2019s control panel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the printer turned on, press the following buttons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Press the Home button on the control panel that looks like a little house.<\/li>\n<li>Press the down button until \u201cAdmin\u201d is reached, then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cGeneral Settings\u201d then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cPrint Quality\u201d then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cAdjust Paper Types\u201d then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cPlain\u201d then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cPrint Mode\u201d then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cNormal\u201d then press \u201cOK.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>The new setting is now saved and you can now press the Home (Little house) button to return to main screen.<\/li>\n<li>Turn the printer off then back on again and you can start printing again.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Using EWS (Embedded Web Server):<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Select \u201cGeneral tab\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cControl Panel Administration Menu\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAdministration\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cGeneral Settings\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cPrint Quality\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cAdjust Paper Types\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u201cGo to Primary Setup Page\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Select \u201cPlain\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Click on \u201cModify\u201d at bottom of page<\/li>\n<li>In the Print mode box if it says \u201cNormal\u201d then no change is needed If it says \u201cLight Mode,\u201d then select the drop down arrow and select \u201cNormal\u201d and then click on \u201cApply\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Service Technician steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is not necessary to send a Service Technician out to change this setting unless needed by contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Noted from firmware:\u00a0<\/strong>ljM601_602_603fw_ 2302786_433718.bdl \u2013 3-24-14 THROUGH firmware: ljM601_602_603fw_2305090_ 000468.bdl 6-10-15<\/p>\n<p>As this is a user setting which firmware should not change, the first 3-24-2014 version actually did change the plain setting to \u201clight.\u201d However even though the version after 6-10-15 is correct, the user\/tech still has to manually change this.
