{"id":26531,"date":"2017-11-16T09:54:17","date_gmt":"2017-11-16T17:54:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/?p=26531"},"modified":"2017-11-16T09:54:17","modified_gmt":"2017-11-16T17:54:17","slug":"bob-goldberg-receives-lifetime-achievement-award-from-the-cannata-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.enxmag.com\/twii\/news\/2017\/11\/bob-goldberg-receives-lifetime-achievement-award-from-the-cannata-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Bob Goldberg Receives Lifetime Achievement Award  from The Cannata Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Kansas City, MO (Nov. 16, 2017)<\/em> \u2014 Bob Goldberg, the Business Technology Association\u2019s (BTA\u2019s) general counsel, was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award at The Cannata Report\u2019s 32nd Annual Awards &amp; Charities Dinner held Nov. 2 at The Madison Hotel in Morristown, NJ.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the 32 years, we\u2019ve had five recipients who have received a Lifetime Achievement Award,\u201d said Frank Cannata, president and CEO of The Cannata Report, in his comments announcing the award winner. \u201cTonight we\u2019re going to present the sixth. I don\u2019t know of anyone over the years that I\u2019ve been in the business \u2014 and I go back to 1971 \u2014 that has given more to the independent dealer than Bob Goldberg.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is truly the dealer\u2019s best friend,\u201d Cannata continued. \u201cHe is also our best friend. I cannot thank him enough for his kindness, his generosity, his advice, his counsel \u2026 beyond being generous, he just wants to help people who he feels are helping dealers, and that\u2019s what it\u2019s all about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg stepped forward to receive the award surrounded by passionate applause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m nothing more than the voice of independent dealers throughout the country and the world,\u201d Goldberg said during his acceptance speech. \u201cWe\u2019ve come a long way &#8230; I am deeply humbled and I\u2019m honored, but I couldn\u2019t have done it without the dealers\u2019 support and the dealer communication and the relationships we\u2019ve had throughout the years. And it goes beyond the dealers. We\u2019re at a point in our industry where we truly are partners \u2014 where we work together, we profit together, we grow together. Where issues aren\u2019t confrontational; issues are matters to be resolved in a business context to move forward and to grow together. So I am deeply honored by this recognition and I appreciate it very much.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor 32 years, it has been our pleasure to give out awards for outstanding performances,\u201d Cannata said. \u201cPresenting Bob Goldberg with our Lifetime Achievement Award was one of the most gratifying experiences I have ever experienced. No one deserved it more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Goldberg has more than 37 years of industry experience. Upon graduation from law school in 1973, he joined the Antitrust Division of the Illinois Attorney General&#8217;s Office. Goldberg&#8217;s government career continued with the Federal Trade Commission until 1977, when he transitioned to private practice. He was a partner with the firm of Freeman, Atkins &amp; Coleman, where he specialized in antitrust and trade regulation matters. Goldberg then joined the law firm Schoenberg Finkel Newman &amp; Rosenberg LLC and was a partner with the firm from 1984 to 2008. In 2008, he became of counsel to the firm, continuing to collaborate and mentor with the firm&#8217;s attorneys and staff.
