What’s Hot & What’s Not?

This week Steve Valenta, president of Offix in Gainesville, VA shares what’s hot and what’s not in his market. Founded in 1999, Offix sells hardware and solutions from Canon, Sharp, Océ, Kip, MBM, EFI, HP, Samsung, eCopy, and Drivve.

What product/solutions/services areas are hot?

Valenta: UniFlow has been a big seller for us over the last 90-120 days . Using secure print we’ve got some real estate companies that are big with accountability because they charge their reps for clicks. A lot of people want to use secure printing because it keeps the wasted pages from sitting on a machine as well as protecting documents. It also has the ability to connect with Microsoft Exchange.

What’s not?

Valenta: Black & white. We sold a few in December, but black & white sales are really dropping. We probably sell 80-90 percent color. With the ability to control color they can have it if they need it and they can control the usage. I don’t see any reason to buy a black & white machine today.
