Doors open and doors close. It\u2019s the way it goes. Over the years we\u2019ve all seen vendors, dealers, consultants and consulting firms, and publications come and go. It\u2019s pretty much survival of the fittest.<\/p>\n<p>The latest three publications to go down for the count are <em>The Imaging Channel<\/em>, <em>Workflow<\/em>, and <em>Recharger<\/em> from 1105 Media. As some of you may know, besides The Week in Imaging I contribute to a variety of industry publications and was thrilled back in late 2012 when Patricia Ames, publisher of those three publications asked me to become a monthly contributor. I have to thank Mike Stramaglio for making that introduction. It was a great gig\u2026while it lasted\u2026and the staff was terrific to work with.<\/p>\n<p>There are plenty of rumors floating around as to what\u2019s going to happen next with those three publications. I understand the assets are up for sale and some sort of deal may go down for one or all of these titles any day now. We\u2019ll see. I\u2019ve been around long enough and seen enough changes to know that there aren\u2019t always happy endings. Sometimes things just end.<\/p>\n<p>The world hasn\u2019t been kind to the publishing industry of late whether it\u2019s print or online. I feel lucky to still be here, actually anywhere for that matter, and the support of my sponsors and the dealer community has meant a lot.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the changes in the publishing business, I still think this industry needs someone to write intelligently and consistently about what\u2019s going on even if it\u2019s only read by a chosen few.
