However,\nthat only speaks to Godoy\u2019s professional vocation. His true calling is built\naround service in all of its forms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The holder of BAs in computer science and political science, along with a master\u2019s degree in international relations and security from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Godoy embarked on a military stint with the Army that included the role of commander in the United Nations Ground Forces Peacekeeping Operations. While his post-military career has touched on various aspects of communications and technology\u2014from founding a tech start-up that delivered satellite-based disaster recovery solutions for government and private enterprise to consulting for Cisco Government Systems and Panasonic\u2014that love of service continues to be a common denominator throughout his life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have always found service rewarding, whether volunteering\nin the community, serving in the military or designing customer-centric\ntechnology solutions,\u201d said Godoy, a 2020 <em>ENX\nMagazine<\/em> Difference Maker. \u201cThe most rewarding part of my job is working\ndirectly with our partner dealers to generate new revenue streams and market\naround the needs of the customers to whom they are trusted advisors.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After spending five years with Hotwire Communications, where\nhe developed the company\u2019s IP-based smart home and security products, Godoy\narrived at RingByName in 2012. He was on the lookout for new channel\nopportunities and leveraged a speaking engagement at ITEX to gain entry into\nthe world of office technology dealerships. He was duly impressed with how\ndealers approached customer acquisition and retention, and discovered there was\na natural overlap for RingByName and dealers to build new evergreen revenue\nstreams. Thus, the company\u2019s channel partner program was born.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn speaking to\nbusiness equipment dealers and managed service providers, I kept finding a\nreticence to offer new cloud-based technologies for the same common reasons:\nlack of product knowledge about new technologies, and the lack of man-power to\nsell, support and maintain it,\u201d Godoy noted. \u201cWe resolved to create a program\nwhere dealers weren\u2019t defocused from their core mission: selling business\nequipment. That\u2019s why RingByName\u2019s team of sales engineers do all of the heavy\nlifting\u2014from preparing the proposal and performing remote sales presentations,\nto supporting the customer after the sale. By working as an extension of the\ndealer&#8217;s team, we can leverage our expertise in telecom and create successful\noutcomes and meaningful revenue growth.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Becoming a master\nof multitasking was thrust upon Godoy earlier in his career, a skill set\nimparted on him by Richard Tobier, owner of a Panasonic partner\/integrator. Working with the firm\u2019s software and marketing teams to analyze focus\ngroup results to drive the creation of new software was an eye-opening\nexperience for him. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI came to understand how the look and feel of software must\ntake into account the experience of the end-user to create a sticky product\nthat an essential extension of their business process,\u201d\nhe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2020, Godoy\nnotes RingByName is seeking to greatly expand its sales channel and improve\nreseller tools to enable them to market their support and generate more revenue\nfrom telephony and unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) products. This\nwill be accomplished through webinars, automated email marketing and SEO\nsupport for partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Godoy will seek to raise the bar through continuous reviews\nof trends, the needs of end-users (particularly monitoring the work-from-home\nrequirements) and identifying best practices. \u201cWe will continually evaluate and\nadjust our efforts and products to make sure we are ahead of the curve,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Away from the office, Godoy enjoys hiking, fishing and other outdoor activities. He recently tried his hand at woodworking, an offshoot of his love for gadgets and tools.
