Kansas City, MO (Aug. 23, 2017) \u2014 Dan Castaneda, general manager of International Copy Machine Center, El Paso, Texas, was named BTA\u2019s 2017 Volunteer of the Year<\/a> on Aug. 16 during the 2017 BTA National Conference held at the Mandarin Oriental in Las Vegas. Castaneda serves as 2017-18 BTA president. 2016-17 BTA President Rob Richardson presented the award.<\/p>\n

Richardson noted that while his BTA presidency ended on June 30, he wanted to \u201csave this very special award\u201d presentation for the national conference. \u201cThe recipient is a gentleman who stepped forward several years ago as a volunteer,\u201d he said. \u201cHe has since served as an outstanding and loyal member of the BTA National Board of Directors for the past year. Previously, as a volunteer, he played a very key role in the growing success of the BTA Mid-America district events. It is my privilege to present BTA\u2019s 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award to the current president of BTA, Dan Castaneda.\u201d<\/p>\n

Each year, BTA\u2019s national president has the opportunity to recognize one individual who has distinguished himself (or herself) for exemplary service to the association. The Volunteer of the Year award dates back to 1962 \u001bwhen then-NOMDA President Edgar Knoll presented the first of these awards (at that time, it was called the Dealer of the Year award) to George Chadwick. 2017 marked the 52nd year the award has been presented to a BTA volunteer.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very grateful and very honored,\u201d Castaneda said as he accepted the award. \u201cThis organization has done a lot for me and the company that I run. Getting to know everybody\u2014the vendors, dealers and BTA staff\u2014has been very special to me and it has helped my dealership come a long way. I am really honored. Thank you very much.\u201d<\/p>\n
