Konica Minolta Receives Innovative Technology Designation from Vizient for Ransomware and Medical Device Hacking Prevention Services

Ramsey, NJ (Jan. 23, 2018) — Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. (Konica Minolta), a leader in Technology and IT Services, today announces that its Ransomware and Medical Device Hacking Prevention Services has received a 2017 Innovative Technology designation from Vizient Inc., the nation’s largest member-driven healthcare performance improvement company. The designation was based on direct feedback from hospital experts who interacted with Ransomware and Medical Device Hacking Prevention Services at the Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange in Denver on Sept. 14, 2017.

Konica Minolta combines an innovative approach with a specific solution that focuses on reducing security threats to healthcare organizations. The Ransomware and medical device hacking prevention solution that has been recognized with the Vizient designation is part of a larger suite of other Konica Minolta IT services.

“Increasing threats from cybersecurity attacks, including Ransomware and medical device hacking, are taking a toll on the financial stability and reputations of healthcare organizations as well as impacting patients’ peace of mind,” said Kevin Kern, senior vice president, Business Intelligence Services and Product Planning, Konica Minolta. “We are honored to receive a 2017 Innovative Technology designation from Vizient, and are dedicated to helping the healthcare community protect themselves from these constantly evolving threats.”

“The Vizient Innovative Technology Exchange offers medical technology suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate their products and gain direct feedback from the approximately 1,500 clinical experts who attend the event. Following the exploration of the technological capabilities of Ransomware and Medical Device Hacking Prevention Services at the Exchange, attendees recommended it receive an Innovative Technology designation. Congratulations to Konica Minolta on receiving this status,” said Debbie Archer, director of procurement and Vizient Innovative Technology Program leader.

Vizient represents a diverse membership base that includes academic medical centers, pediatric facilities, community hospitals, integrated health delivery networks and non-acute health care providers and represents more than $100 billion in annual purchasing volume. Through its Innovative Technology Program, Vizient works with member-led councils and task forces to review potentially innovative products. If it is determined that a product is innovative, Vizient may award a contract outside of the competitive bid cycle.
