New Photizo 2016 Printer Hardware Forecast and Perspective

Lexington, KY (November 8, 2016)–Today, Photizo Group announced the availability of a new 2016 Printer Hardware Forecast and Perspective. The hardware forecast includes both laser and inkjet printer data, spanning the period 2013 through 2020. The forecast is available as a global forecast covering North America, EMEA, Latin America, and Asia Pacific and is also available as a regional forecast for each of the regions. If there is interest in custom country level forecasts, Photizo should be contacted.

From a laser printer product segmentation standpoint, the new forecast includes seven monochrome SFP (single function printer) segments, eleven monochrome MFP (multifunction printer) segments, five color laser SFP segments and eight color laser MFP segments. With regard to inkjet printer segments, the new hardware forecast includes two segments of SFP devices and six segments of all in one (AIO) devices. The forecast also segments A4 and A3 devices.

In addition to providing forecast data by product segment, the new pivot table based forecast can provide many cuts of the forecast including hardware shipments and revenue by product segment by region, average sales prices (ASPs) by product segment by region, unit installed based by product segment by region, and hardware retirements by product segment by region.

According to Ron Iversen, VP market intelligence at Photizo Group, what really makes a forecast useful is not so much the historic data since a number of companies, including Photizo, collect a great deal of shipment data often quarterly from printer manufacturers down to the individual product level. What is most important is the methodology used to develop the forecast for future years. Photizo prides itself on the trusted advisor and consulting partner relationships that it has built with many printer manufacturers, consumables suppliers, channel partners, and MPS providers whereby Photizo continues to build a database of crucial content that has direct impact on the forecast data.

Although the aggregate laser printer and inkjet printer hardware unit shipments and revenue are declining over the forecast period, there are specific segments, like business inkjet devices, that show tremendous growth. When adding in consumables (cartridges, media), the picture is not as bleak. Consumables revenue and profits are key to understanding the total revenue and profits which is why Photizo offers a new 2016 Office Supplies Forecast which will be announced in a separate press release.
