Question: Copier
appears to work ok, but the overall copy is light with
exposure change having little effect. There is no change in
density from copy 1 to copy 3. The customer replaced the
master (photoconductor) unit with a new one from Xerox, but
there was no real change. I have no previous experience with
this model which may be obvious. Any help would be
appreciated. Answer: What have you done so far? Photoreceptor belts are mostly bad now because they are old. Question: I have cleaned the optics, transport, and transfer. The copier was dusty but not really toner dusted (??) at all. The developer appears a little lighter in color than I am used to seeing with Toshiba copiers. Customer says they make about 15-18k copies a year. The meter is at 382k. Answer: I’ll bet it’s a bad copy cartridge. Answer: Be sure you have cleaned all mirrors including the one under the light shield. Answer: Did this happen suddenly or gradually? It could be that the toner motor is not running or has a stripped gear. You can cheat the right door by removing the linkage from the door, putting the linkage back as if the door was closed, running code 9-5 and watch the gears, mainly the white one as it will get stripped. If all looks good you can run code 9-5 about 8 times to see if it will tone it up. Also, the gear on the end of the toner cartridge could be broken; you should feel some resistance when you rotate it. Question: The light shield was removed and the mirrors beneath it were cleaned. Answer: To enter diagnostics mode, hold down “0” while turning the machine on. I doubt it is a problem with dirty mirrors as that would most likely cause dark copies. When you take the developer housing out and look at the gears toward the front of the machine, there is a small white gear on a “D” shaft that will sometimes strip. You can see it through a hole in the metal plate over it. If that motor runs constantly, you probably will have to change the Main PWB as well as the motor. Question: The problem was with the toner cartridge, which was apparently recently installed and was not delivering toner. I removed the toner cartridge and saw the toner drive gears were turning fine. I freed up the packed toner in the opening, re-installed the cartridge, ran 9-5 2 times, and the copies darkened up the rest of the way itself. Thanks for the help!! |

Cuando tomo el desarrollador sostenido hacia afuera reviso las velocidades seguidas hacia la parte de enfrente de la copiadora, ahí hay una pequeña velocidad blanca en “D” que a veces cae. Usted puede ver a través del orificio en el plato de metal. Si ese motor corre constantemente, usted probablemente tendrá que cambiar el principal PWB al igual que le motor. Pregunta: El problema era con el cartucho de tóner, que aparentemente fue instalado recientemente y no soltaba tóner. Removí el cartucho de tóner y pude ver que las velocidades del tóner estaban bien. Libere el paquete del tóner en la apertura re instale el cartucho, lo hice correr en 9-5 dos veces, las copias se oscurecieron lo suficiente. Gracias por su ayuda!!! |
