Subject: Samsung 6345 Toner Supply Error |
Question: Got a Samsung SCX6345 that
gives me a toner supply error on multiple toner
cartridges. I suspect it may be firmware. What is
the latest firmware version on the 6345? How do I get
my hands on it? Thanks.
Answer:
.76 is the latest, unless you have a fax kit in it.
Then you should use .81. Your Sammy rep should hook
you up. Otherwise it’s about 12MB for all three of
them (main, ope, nic), a bit too big to email.
Answer: Take out the toner and the
drum. Look in the back. Put a finger on the + that
sends rotation to the toner cartridge. Is it stuck
pushed back? If so replace it. What happens when the
cartridge is replaced? If the + is exactly lined up
with it, it pushes it back and gets stuck.
Answer: Yes, it’s the toner drive,
the plastic will crack and cause the spring loaded
drive to stick back and not engage the toner
cartridge. You can get to it from the rear of machine.
Question: Does anyone have the
part number for the toner drive plunger that breaks?
Thank you.
Answer: The whole
gear assembly is part#JC97-02681A; the cost is about
$1.00-2.00. Has gear, coupling, pin, and spring. |

Subject: Bizhub 200/250/350 toner bottle
rotation |
Question: Seems like I’m running into
several DI2510 & Bizhub 200 series toner bottles that
won’t rotate after a customer puts in a new one. The
DI had the obvious popping noise, so I took it apart
to the clutch and found NOTHING wrong with the toner
clutch. Replaced it anyway and the bottle still popped
until I swapped the bottle holder. Today on a
BH200, bottle just never tried to turn; screen said
there is no toner after 5 minutes of trying. Again,
clutch is o.k., so I checked the bottle holder. It
turns ok by hand, so I re-assembled and it runs fine
now... Both machines have upgrade/mod clutches. ANY
IDEAS?
Answer: Sounds like the
metal stop is not releasing the bottle all the time.
It gets bent up and the clutch will just pop. Also
make sure the e clip did not fall off the shaft of the
lower gear on the assembly, which is common too.
Answer: I just replaced the whole
drive assembly on a 3510. Customer said they put in a
new toner bottle and all of a sudden it started to
pop. Found that the drive assembly looked as if
someone tried to bend one of the gear shafts.
Question: Definitely have seen the
release tab bent up. Not on these. Also the e-clip was
on. Sounds like the “Hopper Drive Ass’y” (clutch) was
an older one. New style has an enlarged bottom of that
“bent” shaft. The tab that releases the bottle (better
visible with toner bottle and holder removed) will
look like it is releasing, but just needs a little
bend downward to be sure. Anytime the popping sound is
heard, it could be the tab. Still, don’t know why the
DI2510 worked with a new bottle holder ass’y. I could
turn both by hand. Meter was about 80k.
Answer: Katun toner? If so then the
bottle will go in incorrectly easily. If not the
customer is forcing the bottle into the machine
without aligning the tabs up. I replace at least one
of these a month.
Question:
Funny you say that. Yes. I brought Katun to replace
ACM that has been running light solids, and the
failure happened when they installed the Katun. It was
in correctly, keyed o.k. Rotation/clutch issues
usually happen with a new bottle, so I didn’t think
much of the brand. We’ve had units fail with OEM as
well (old style clutch). I can’t figure why the bottle
would be a problem when the whole sleeve around the
bottle rotates. Can you shed some light on that?
Answer: There is no tab on the
right hand side of the bottle with the Katun toner.
This makes it easy for the customers to push the
bottle when not aligned properly. Check the little
nipple on the bottle and see if it has been crushed
(even a little). If so, then that’s your answer. Also
Katun gives light copies as well. You’re better off to
stick with OEM if your customer is picky about CQ.
Densi is using a bottle that is similar to OEM. |

Subject: eStudio 523 |
Question: I have an eStudio 523 that is
password protecting scanned documents. I am looking
for the 0-8 code to turn it off.
Answer: 08-623 needs to be a 0.
Question: I set 623 to 0, but the
password protect is still on. Do I need to reboot the
computer? Or is there something else I am missing?
Answer: If you mean that when you
go to open the PDF that you have to enter a password
then you need to turn off “SECURITY” on the scan to
file control panel. If you are scanning via a template
then you need to modify the template not to use
secured encryption.
