IKOP Automation, Inc. has the unique ability to truly understand
the needs of their resellers. In 1982 James Kim, IKOP’s president
and owner, began as an independent copier dealer. “I began by
buying new and used copiers from distributors. I needed quality
equipment, sales and service training, ability to buy parts and
help with warranty issues. Most of all I needed someone who I
could trust and depend upon to help build my business.”
After 3 decades in the office equipment business, the IKOP
professionals truly understand the needs of the reseller. James
Kim explains, “We are able to be business partners with our
customers. We understand what it requires to run a retail office
equipment business. What happens after the sale is far more
important than a one time low price. Technical support, including
being able to provide immediate help desk assistance with a
network installation, clearing a service code, or ho w
to remove a cover, is vital. At IKOP, a knowledge person, located
in our Los Angeles county corporate headquarters, is always here
to answer our incoming telephone calls. You will never be
transferred to an out-sourced, off shore call center to answer
your questions.”

Kim explains IKOP’s earned industry knowledge. “By 1986 IKOP had
grown into a successful, authorized Ricoh retail dealership. IKOP
remained a retail copier dealer in Southern California through
2006. I never forgot the trials and tribulations of needing help
to buy equipment through distribution outlets. Through the years
we sold refurbished and demo Ricoh equipment to both resellers and
end users. I always enjoyed working with other dealers. Everyone
at IKOP took pride in providing equipment, parts, supplies,
technical support, sales and service training to our reselling
dealers. We understood the need to price our wholesale equipment
so both parties could make a reasonable profit.

“By the late 1990’s IKOP had consistently achieved retail sales
that ranked us in the top 5% of all USA independently owned Ricoh
retail dealerships. We earned rebates, bonuses and trips. We
continually expanded our wholesale distribution within the
Southern California area. By the turn of the century, our proven
track record of integrity and hard work within the distribution
channel resulted in several OEM’s approaching us to become a
wholesale distributor of their products. After much thought and
research, IKOP became an authorized wholesale distributor of Ricoh
and Samsung in 2002. The choice of offering both Ricoh and Samsung
blended two industry leaders offering a wide range of products.”
In 2004 IKOP management made the decision to change the IKOP
business model to exclusively focus on wholesale distribution. The
retail division of IKOP was sold. 100% of IKOP was now committed
to wholesale distribution. During the past six years IKOP has
worked exclusively with the needs of their resellers. They have
expanded their Ricoh and Samsung wholesale distribution selling
area to include the entire USA.

to end users, nor through any
internet Web based selling. The independent reseller is our only
customer and the entire IKOP business model is designed to
maximize the overall profitability offered to the reseller. Long

the value we offer to our customers. We can handle a request for a
single laser printer, as well as fulfilling a large order of
dozens of fully featured networkable 40 copies per minute color
and up to 135 monochrome copies per minute equipment. We are able
to work with our resellers on pricing for Request for Quotes. When
you win the bid, we will provide the logistics and equipment that
will help ensure a successful installation. We have negotiated
shipping contracts that allow next day delivery at standard
shipping cost in California, Arizona and Nevada. With approved
credit, IKOP offers 30 day payment terms. New customers are
allowed immediate purchasing with Visa, Master Card, Discover and
American Express.”

from a retail background,” comments Sales Manager Kevin McElheny,

parts orders, cash flow, last minute orders, in stock inventory,

This includes parts, supplies, training, tech support, sales
assistance and marketing material. All Ricoh offered rebates and
special promotional pricing are extended to our resellers. Smaller
retail dealers are able to take advantage of our power buying
discounts. We help increase our resellers’ sales profitability by
maximizing the savings to them. And they buy more products from
IKOP creating a win-win situation that allows IKOP to offer value
added pricing on genuine OEM Ricoh and Samsung name brand
products.”
IKOP also offers Ricoh current model ‘B-option’ equipment which
includes: demo and other new, returned equipment that is fully OEM
inspected, repaired and warranted. These lower priced current
models offer high value profitability when sold outright, offered
as a long-term
rental or used in a comprehensive Managed Print Services
environment.
Adding the Samsung full product line of color and
monochrome MFPs equipment to our wholesale distribution channel
balances out IKOP’s offerings to our resellers. Samsung provides
excellent end user name recognition. Samsung is highly rated as a
manufacturer of value added electronic equipment and their total
cost of operation is unparalleled. Samsung dealer models offer 2
full years of parts warranty, while equipment, accessories and
supplies are among the lowest priced, highest quality offerings in
the industry.
The Samsung name, low equipment cost, two year parts warranty and
extremely low supplies cost provide an excellent candidate for
supporting any MPS program. Samsung imaging equipment allows the
reseller to successfully compete with the traditional BTA channel
copier dealers.
Fully featured MFPs wholesale pricing begins at under $200. The
Samsung full color CLX-8540ND offers 40 pages per minute, 520
sheet paper tray, 1GB memory, 160Hdd, duplex and network ready,
two full years of parts warranty, including a full set of color
and black toner, delivered to our reselling dealer’s location; all
for under $3500. The Samsung SCX-6555N monochrome 55 copies per
minute offers similar features for under $2500.
