Xerox DC12 Style Fault Codes Revisited

DC12 (DocuColor 12) & DCCS 50 (DocumentCentre Color System 50)

Expanded Fault Code List & Troubleshooting Tips

The DC12 remains one of the most respected full color machines to roll out of Xerox's warehouses to date. The image quality is superb, especially when it comes to glossy output, and the machine is particularly suited to handling heavy paper such as card stock. This has not been an easy act to follow. Newer models such as the DC250 style (DocuColor 250/252 etc.) introduce major improvements in the way of speed and ease of maintenance but they can't surpass the DC12's image quality. In an ENX magazine article a couple years ago, we covered the DC12 in an introductory sort of way. The article had a heavily abbreviated Fault Code list, which in retrospect turns out to be incomplete. This month we'll revisit that list and provide you with a more complete picture. We'll also cover some of the more common faults and how to troubleshoot them. The second ENX article covered the Diagnostics, Component Test Codes and Memory Adjustments. The third article was about working on the Fuser. Both of those two have proven to be complete enough to be helpful to folks. Now let's go back and revisit the Fault Code List… a few of the choice codes are marked by asterisks. Those will be covered in the troubleshooting tips which follow the list. The list is riddled with acronyms. Whenever practical, I included the acronym meanings although there are too many to name them all in full text.
