January 27, 2010 - Deerfield, IL United Stationers Appoints Mark Hammerschick to Vice President of eCommerce
DEERFIELD, Ill. – Jan. 27, 2010 – United Stationers has appointed Mark Hammerschick as vice president of eCommerce. In this newly created role, Mark will be responsible for developing and delivering new eBusiness capabilities, deployed through United Stationers’ resellers to their end consumers. Mark brings 25 years of experience in eCommerce, online marketing, advertising, sales and product management to United Stationers. Most recently, he served as director of eCommerce operations and product marketing at Follett Corporation, the nation's largest operator of college bookstores. Before Follet, Mark managed the Quill.com Internet Marketing and Catalog Media Group at Quill Corporation. “The enablement of our eBusiness initiative is a key growth strategy and a service differentiator for United Stationers,” said Dave Bent, senior vice president, eBusiness Services and Corporate CIO, United Stationers. “By expanding our core, catalog-based expertise into new on-line capabilities, we provide more eBusiness competencies to our resellers and to our suppliers. We are pleased to add Mark to our team, as he brings a wealth of eCommerce experience that will help our resellers be successful through expanded online offerings.” United Stationers’ eCommerce efforts are part of the company’s strategic eBusiness initiative, which will provide online business products and merchandizing to suppliers and resellers. The plan is driven by four components: eCommerce, which enables a great shopping experience on a reseller's Web site; eMarketing, which pushes customers and prospects to visit the reseller's site; eMerchandising, which encourages customers to purchase directly from the reseller's site; Analytics, which demonstrates the effectiveness of initiatives through a better understanding of consumers’ activities and behaviors online, allowing resellers constantly to improve upon them. Mark holds an M.B.A. in marketing from DePaul University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and English from DePaul University and the University of Illinois, respectively.
