Jamex
The
long-awaited university bid has finally arrived: 120 pieces of
equipment. Winning this bid will really help your dealership. As
you scan the RFQ you notice the school requires:
- 18
self-service copiers for student use
- 8 of those
copiers must be color and accept both cash and credit cards
- 10 computer
labs that require self-service print vending
Your company has
never sold or serviced any of these types of configured products.
Your dealership definitely does not want to walk away from a 120
machine opportunity. What are you going to do? Call Jamex!
Jamex brings to
any dealer offering copiers, MFPs or printers an experienced
partner who can guide them and provide customized cost recovery,
vending, access and session control products.
“The majority
of our business is done with independent
dealers across the United States and Canada,” states Jim Wells,
Jamex’ founder and head of engineering. “Our typical customer is
the independent dealer who has a need for one or two coin or card
operated copiers that will go into educational facilities,
libraries, grocery stores, or other independent businesses. We
have also had customers who placed in excess of 100 self-service
copiers at one
time. Several OEMs work directly with us to make sure they, and
their dealers, have immediate access to our documented interface
solutions for their equipment.”
Jim and Jamie Wells
“We can help
your sales and technical staff at any point in the sales process:
before, during and after the sale,” says Jamie Wells, Director of
Marketing. “Our vending professionals can teach your reps what
questions to ask and help them with gathering necessary
information. Each vending opportunity has its own unique
requirements. The more information we have, the better our staff
can custom tailor your vending solution. Our commitment is to
always
satisfy the
end-user’s needs and help make the sale of a vending solution as
easy as possible for our dealers.”
Sales Team
The newest
addition to the Jamex family of products is the NetPad Touch. The
NetPad Touch boasts an array of impressive hardware features.
These include a full-color QVGA touch screen, an integrated 10/100
Mbps network switch, a magnetic stripe card reader, a barcode
scanner, and the
high quality copier interface for which Jamex is known. The first
application for this revolutionary hardware platform is credit
card acceptance for self-service copy vending.
“We spent a
great deal of time, care, and effort designing this system,”
remarks Jamie. “Our dealers and end-users helped us identify the
challenges they face in selling and using a credit card copy
vending solution. With the NetPad Touch we have done a great job
addressing those issues!”
Development Team
“For example,”
Jamie explains, “on the credit card processing side neither our
workflow nor our software requires any special accounts or changes
in existing banking or merchant relationships. We can make
recommendations for ‘micro-payment friendly’ processors, but we
wanted to make sure that integration of the NetPad Touch would be
quick and easy for any merchant. We’ve accomplished that goal!
There is no middle man holding the customer’s money for weeks or
possibly months. The merchant gets their money from NetPad
transactions just as quickly as if they ran the credit card
through their cash register.”
Jamie
continues, “We also recognized that traditional phone lines were
no longer a viable transport for processing transactions. It’s too
expensive to maintain dedicated lines for a single piece of
hardware. Likewise, paying for a cellular modem each month didn’t
make sense when network connections abound in our traditional
markets. That is why the NetPad Touch does all of its
communications via existing network connections. We also know
how expensive running new network cable can be. So, we designed
the NetPad Touch with an integrated network switch. Both the
NetPad Touch and the MFP it controls can use the same network port
in the wall.”

The NetPad
Touch is the latest innovation in Jamex’s history. Jim and his
wife, Connie, originally started the company in 1981 as James E.
Wells & Sons. It all began when
Jim was asked to develop an interface for the Savin 870. By 1987
the business had grown and needed a new image. Connie wanted a
name that alphabetically would stay next to the James E. Wells &
Sons location in their customer’s Rolodex. She came up with the
idea of Jamex. The distinctive name with an X incorporated the
JAMEs of founder Jim Wells’ given name, kept the rolodex position,
and has become an industry icon signifying vending eXcellence.
Jim, Connie,
and their son, Jamie, continue to believe in the old adage,
“Nothing amazes people more than straight talk and plain dealing.”

and help you formulate winning quotes.
The close
proximity of the engineering, manufacturing, support, marketing,
customer service, and shipping staff enables constant product
feedback. When a Jamex customer calls with a question or special
request, all the answers are in one location. There is no need to
have to deal with varying corporate time zones, language
translations, or outsourced employees.

Jamex’s
goals:
1.
Position your dealership to be able to say ‘yes’ to all of your
customer’s vending and access control needs.
2.
Provide selling experts to help your sales staff ask the right
questions in order to place the correct product the first time.
3.
Develop interface, software, and vending system solutions before
the market even asks for them, allowing immediate availability to
the dealer for installation.
4. Provide the
dealer with the security of knowing Jamex stands behind their
complete line of solutions being offered.
Jamex’s
strengths:
1. Jamex
provides world-class technical vending and session control
specialists who are ready to support the dealer’s needs.
2. Jamex
staff spends as much time educating the dealer as they do
manufacturing the vending equipment. Jamex knows that if the
dealer is not comfortable making the sale, it won’t be made.
3. Jamex
offers flexibility in configuring your vending system with units
that accept coins, bills, stored-value and credit cards. These
units can be customized with mounting systems and
other accessories.
4. Jamex
offers integrated systems that interface with nearly a dozen
popular software vendors, allowing recovery of print costs when
using a networked printer.
Jamex’s
reasons for success:
1. Jamex
has an extensive on-hand inventory of the components required to
provide a broad range of customized solutions.
2. Most
interface solutions are developed and ready for shipping before
the dealer calls. New interface solutions can be developed at no
cost to the dealer.
3. Most systems
can be installed in under one hour— a testament to their design,
ease of use, and serviceability.
4. All
Jamex products have a 2 year warranty and lifetime support.
Jamex is
approaching their 4th decade of providing quality vending
products. Their innovation and relentless quest for vending
solutions that work have enabled them to grow and prosper within
the ever-changing imaging industry. Jamex has a proven history of
partnering with copier, MFP, and printer dealers to provide easy
to use, effective and economical vending and access solutions.
