Subject: Sharp MXM350N…E7-02 Code
Question: I have a Sharp MXM350N that has a trouble code E7-02. The manual says there is problem with the laser. My tech has followed all the troubleshooting steps in the service manual yet the problem still remains. He tried sim 63-01 and it says the laser is bad. Any other suggestions or do I just need to order a laser?

Answer: I had this on an AR-M450, and it was the laser.

Answer: I’ve tried replacing the polygon motor in the past and had to go back with a laser unit. Personally, I’d get the unit and be done with it.

Question:
My regional tech guy called and gave me a good tip. I had my tech try it, and the machine is working and copy quality is good again. Thanks for your fast replies though!

Answer: Why not share the tech tip with the rest of us? Thanks

Question: Remove the cover on the laser unit. Then there is a cover with 4 screws. Below this cover is the laser diode. There are 2 red screws. Loosen them and ever so slightly move the laser diode. This is a tedious adjustment; I was told that it may take several attempts to get it adjusted correctly. When and if you succeed, the copy quality will be good and the E7-02 code will be gone. My tech said it took him 5 times to get it right. P.S. Don’t touch the red screws. Tech support says to replace the laser. We just saved $200.00. If this problem should come back, then we will replace the laser. So far it is working.
Subject: Ricoh AF 2238C band across print
Question: I have an intermittent band crossing about 3 inches down the page and about .25 inches wide. It is a light bar consistent all the way across. It appears to be printed or it may be tracked from a roller. It happens once every 25-50 prints. I have changed out the entire transfer assembly but that did not change the problem. The band is across the page at exactly the same place every time but is lighter or darker at times. Help anyone? Thanks.

Answer: Have you checked the transfer cleaning unit? I have seen the blade chatter on the belt and cause banding.

Question: The band is a perfect bar; it is always in the same place, 3” from the leading edge, and I have changed out the transfer unit. I think the answer is in a timing sequence such as a gear tooth. The problem is hard to diagnose since it happens only a few times a day and I have yet to create it on site. Thanks.

Answer: Is the band a color or black? You may want to check the PCU.

Answer: Try cleaning the line position sensors and do a 1-bit with print to see if the colors are aligned. If not, do a line position adjustment and 1 bit with print to check if it took.

Answer: Just guessing but you MAY be seeing the patch during toner density check.

Answer: I had one doing this; all I did was clean the mirrors and glass. Good luck.

Question: Thanks for all the help. I changed the developer unit and the drum unit, and it is fixed.
Subject: Ricoh Aficio1035p error
Question: Machine has a SC863 code displayed, and I have never worked on this machine before. Customer says she wants to possibly fix it to sell it but we mostly work on Kyocera and Konica Minolta. Anyway, she says it wasn’t used for a few years, so I plugged it in and the error SC863 displayed. I shut it down and restarted, but it is still the same. The manual says it was caused by start up without HD data lead and/or data stored on the hard disk is not read correctly. Could anyone guide me into the right direction or should I tell her it’s not worth it? It is very clean and only has about 40k on it. Any help is appreciated.

Answer: Unplug the hard disk drive and see if it works. Address book will be gone and duplex won’t work until you replace the hard drive.

Answer:
That worked. Would that also not allow electronic sorting to work? Thanks for your help.
Subject: Samsung CLX-6200
Question: I forgot to mention that the one inch coating looks like a rainbow; all colors show up in little half inch by half inch squares from top to bottom

Answer: Yeah, I have had that a few times. Take the transfer section out of the machine and to an area where you can make a mess if you open it up side down. Behind the belt are a collection area and a cleaning blade. Clean, vacuum, and reassemble. I have the manual and parts book, but cleaning will take care of the problem. Out of the several I have out, only two of them have done that, one in a doctor’s office and one on a farm. Go figure.

Question: Vacuumed out and cleaned transfer waste— looks perfect now. Thanks again
