Subject: Sharp ARM 350 / Lines
Question: I’ve been working on this 350 for a couple of days now. I get thin black lines on and off, the kind you see from a document feeder glass. So I cleaned the glass and optics, replaced the drum and blade, replaced the developer, vacuumed the machine, cleaned the glass on the laser unit, ran a test print from memory, and the machine still get the lines from time to time. The lines are not always in the same place and sometimes on the front and back. The lines run from lead to trail edge. And when they are on both the front and back of the page, they are perfectly aligned with each other. Any help before I start to cry would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer: The charge grid is dirty.

Answer: Replace the main charge corona ass’y; it’s in a maintenance kit.

Answer: If it’s an optics issue, I’ve had problems with this beast before, especially with the scanning. To abolish the issues, there is an upgrade part for the slit glass. Then again, be more specific on your problem

Question: Thanks for the advice. I detailed the corona unit today, and it worked like a charm. I apologize if I wasn’t clear enough for some to understand my issue. Thanks again.
Subject: Sharp ARM 207
Question: I’m getting an E-7-11 failure code on this machine only when it is scanning. Copying and printing are fine. I cleaned the white level, reset the scanning default to grey scale instead of color, and cleaned all the mirrors, lamps, and reflectors. The machine is still occasionally getting the code on scans. Does anyone have any ideas? I didn’t want to rush out and replace the CCD unit till I tried everything else. Thanks!

Answer: I would check all the ribbon cables and other wires for a snug connection. If one is loose, it would cause this problem. Did you recently remove a part and replace it? Start looking at all the connections you touched.

Question: No, I just performed the normal routine cleaning for this problem because the call was for this E7-11 problem. Sometimes you get this problem if the customer tries to scan in the color default mode. If they use the ADF to copy, there is no problem. That’s the weird part. The machine only codes out when it is scanning. Thanks again.

Answer: Firmware

Answer: I’ve had this problem several times. The CCD unit is the fix.

Question: Thank you. The CCD is updated with a new part number, bulletin, and everything. Weird problems are supposed to be cured. Thanks for your help!
Subject: Panasonic DP1520 Message ‘Replace battery’
Question: I have a Panasonic DP1520 with the message ‘Replace battery’ on the display. According to the service manual, I need to replace the internal battery. I have the service manual but it does not include the parts manual and therefore the required part numbers for the battery. Can anyone supply the parts manual or part number for the battery? Also, what is the battery’s location in the machine? Thanks all.

Answer: It is a standard CR2032. You can pick it up anywhere that sells watch batteries. The number is right on the battery.

Question: Is this the battery that’s in the control panel?

Answer:
Yup. Most of the “bad” batteries I’ve seen have just been a loose connection.
Subject: Canon IRC 5800
Question: An E 0014-001 code comes on after warm up. A Canon technician told me there was an update from Canon, some new spacer or bushing on the heat roller. Does anyone have any information on this? I’ve had four copiers doing this off and on. Thanks.

Answer: Check for flat spots on the fixing roller.

Answer: Workaround: As a result of inspection, the following was found: When the fixing roller is rotating, friction resistance occurs between the C-ring and spacer on the rear side of the fixing roller. This resistance detaches the fixing roller, and applies a load to the fixing motor, consequently causing the symptom. To prevent this, a rib has been added to the bore of the spacer.

Field Remedy: Check the shape of the spacer on the rear side of the fixing roller. If the spacer has no rib, replace it with a new one having a rib. Note: When the fixing roller is replaced with a new one or detached for a service work, check the shape of the spacer. If it does not have the rib, replace it with a new one.

E014-0001 can be displayed when a lock state is not identified for 1 second or more after motor start-up. The Fixing Spacer part number is FC5-2590-000. (looks like the person took this from an external source.. should cite the source, e.g., mention the website where this came from, if it did.)
