Question: This machine jams out of both trays at the registration roller, but the bypass feeds fine. I tried replacing the upper feed clutch and sensor on the upper feed section. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks. Answer: Go into simulation. Is there a code for the registration roller timing? I think so. Try that. Try feeding your paper 8.5 x 11 paper. Answer: Adjust the plate on the T/S assy so that it lays more flat. They seem to have an angle that is too sharp and the paper gets stuck at the registration roller and right over the T/S assy. Answer: Maybe I’m missing something but somehow replacing feed tires hasn’t been mentioned, which is the usual most likely cause of that in all machines. (I don’t know any specifics about the 2360 so maybe that’s why.) Question: The paper is getting stuck right at the registration roller feeding either 8 1/2 X 11 out of the upper drawer or 8 1/2 X 14 out of the lower drawer. It almost folds as if the upper clutch on the side of the machine is feeding too much, which I already replaced. Thanks for the help. Answer: We sold about 200 - 300 of these machines. It’s a very good box in my opinion, but it is getting old (12 years) and its parts are iffy. It might be time to put on your salesman hat. Answer: I agree with your logic that it shouldn’t be feed rollers since it gets to the registration roller perfectly each time and, having thought about it, you’re probably right. The T/S corona thing sounds good; I would pull that corona out of the machine and test it. If paper feeds through (assuming it doesn’t know a code for that), then there’s your answer. If it still jams, then I would try the feed rollers even if it doesn’t make sense. Feed rollers can be the culprit no matter what the logic says. Obviously, since the bypass works so well, you’ve pretty much eliminated the registration clutch. Have you run a bunch of copies through bypass or just a few? I would run at least 30 or so to be sure that the bypass is okay. Answer: Don’t rule out the possibility of the clamshell hinges wearing and allowing the top half of the clamshell to actually move “away” from the registration roller. The DC-152 and DC-1655 used to be real bad about this, but I’m not 100% sure on this particular model. Good luck. Answer: Here’s a cause most don’t remember to check: inspect the ozone filter at the rear of the machine where the conveying duct discharges; when that filter gets clogged, it prevents the copy from being held down to the conveying belts sufficiently such that it “stalls” there. |

Question: I have gray and dirty copies. I cleaned the charge and transfer coronas, and the grid, drum, cleaning and recovery blade seem fine. Changing the density does not help. Thanks for any help. Answer: Go into 36 mode. The first item…High-voltage customizations. Power on a grid corotron a charge tried to lift??? (couldn’t decipher what was trying to be said) Answer: Have you replaced the drum and developer at scheduled intervals? If so, did you clear the drum count in 36 mode? Answer: if you replaced the drum without resetting the drum count, this will account for dark and splotchy copies. When you reset the drum count, the machine adjusts for the new drum. It will show “adjusting” on the display. Let it finish then reboot the machine and you should be good to go. Good luck. Question: I have not replaced the drum or developer, and I’m not sure when they were last replaced. Thanks. Answer: An old drum or light fatigued will cause a gray background. Answer: Check the toner. |

DP-1820P Red Spanner? Question: Hi, I don’t have a manual- what does this code refer to and how can I reset it? I also noted that it displays that the paper tray is empty, but there is paper. Also, the paper lift motor does not lift; I tested the motor’s external power source which was fine. Is the error code related? I can’t get a copy out of this at all, but I can scan and enter modes etc... Answer: Take the back cover and look on the bottom of the machine for a lift mechanism for the cassette. Unplug it and remove it. When you open it up, you will see gears. Where the gears sit, the plastic is broken. Order the side that is broken. There are two different part numbers. Good luck. Question: Thanks for the feedback. I just got it sorted. It turns out that the spanner was caused by a previous fuser error code, then again when the tray was opened coincidentally and thus wouldn’t lift. The paper tray gears and motor are good. It turned out that the fault just needed to be reset lbr(?) fuser rest and E4-01 reset again- they are all good to go now. Thanks. |
